I have found that the litecoin-wiki is quite accurate with hash stats.

https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison

my GTX 650 Ti produces 79 KH/s
and my CPU about 50.

So getting a
R9 270 should give 417
R9 280 should give 585
R9 290 should give 830

I will have to see which is available though and then figure out the cost per hash.

I found a source for Red Fury USB @2.6 GH/s and am waiting for a reply of prices. I will be looking for investors with friends when it comes to ASIC hardware.. so i will see how that goes. Frankly this system of paying 3-4 months in advance for hardware thats not been developed is a little disturbing.

William thanks for the calculator its a neat little site.

Hello,

I'm new as well, might as well use the first post for something Tongue

Currently on a HD7950 which gives decent hashrate.
Your planned upgrade will likely give you more than double the improvement though, wiki lists 280x at around 600-700+ kH/s, my 7950 gets 600+

Havnt tried BTC yet, but looking for the hardware, which seems pretty pricey, GPUs just don't cut it  Undecided

I have 2 such USB block erupters. After about a month of mining I have only 0.02 bitcoins. I have made money back since I was lucky and got mine for $5 each (and $5 for shipping). You are basically looking at making about $10 a month per block erupter per month, before electricity is considered.

Here is a Bitcoin Calculator http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator

Since some exchanges use different values for how much they pay for bitcoin, plug that number in for the exchange rate box.

Currently it says you will make about $7.16 per month at current difficulty, and $5.75 at the next estimated difficulty.

Hello everyone.

I am new to bitcoin and i dont imagine i will be able to mine anything but am interested in alternative cryptocurrencies and as such i have begun scrypt mining and as such have a bunch of currencies which i will probably trade into BTC or LTC on cryptsie.

Currently, mining on GPU - GTX 650 Ti and CPU FX 6300.. for about (125 KH/s)

Will be moving onto R9 270/280 soon for GPU. then i imagine i will double it and so on and so forth.

I am curious though as to whether or not i should bother purchasing usb block erupters for mining of alternative SHA-256 currency. Do you believe it might be profitable? for example say i purchase a usb block erupter for $69 (333MH/s) how long would it take to break even mining alternative currencies.
