As I recall, the Gridcoin locations are selected when the program is installed. Don't think the gridcoin files can be moved once installed. I am not using the default file location for gridcoinresearch.exe or its data files on my computer. These are my current folder locations:

  D:\Program Files\GridcoinResearch                <---  Gridcoin Program Location
D:\GridcoinResearch                                     <---  Gridcoin Data Files Location
D:\GridcoinResearch\gridcoinresearch.conf     <---  Gridcoin File that points to the location of my BOINC files

( More info on the gridcoinresearch.conf file at:  https://gridcoin.us/wiki/config-file.html )

I believe I was able to "relocate" the data files from Drive C: to Drive D: once by putting a copy of the existing Gridcoin Data Files Folder in the new location I wanted, then reinstalling the program so the program was installed into the new "D:\Program Files\GridcoinResearch" path, and by selecting the existing (copied directory) of "D:\GridcoinResearch" for the data files. On restart, the program started up as normal from the new location and using the files in the new data folder.

I would have made a separate backup of the wallet .dat and .conf files first in case the file relocation didn't work and a completely new install was needed to fix the program reinstall.

At this point I can't remember if I also uninstalled the Gridcoin program to remove it from drive C: before re-installing it to drive D:. But I currently don't have a Gridcoin program folder on my drive C: so either it was never installed there on this particular computer, or it was and I did a remove-and-reinstall cycle to remove it cleanly from drive C:

(I don't use a Mac, so I have no idea if/how it allows for custom install folders.)

Years later and I still can't find any way to do this. This is on macOS (High Sierra specifically).
Everyone says you can use a data-dir flag on the windows shortcut. That does not help me and my Macs.

I found the location but I haven't been able to figure out how to change it in the app. Every other wallet I've used prompts you for wallet location the first time you open the app, and any time you open it and it can't find your wallet. But Gridcoin does not, and I really want to put my wallets in a specific location. Any ideas?

On Windows??   If so, the wallet should be at "C:\Users\("login name")\AppData\Roaming\GridcoinResearch"

Pretty much all cryptos use the "...users\"username"\appdata\roaming\..." directory.

As they say, free cheese is in a mousetrap. I also participated in one campaign, I downloaded a purse from them, after which the computer began to work very slowly, completely hammering the disk "c". Filled the operative and hung up the computer. Kaspersky discovered a miner who was installed anonymously.

Not sure if this is a good place for Gridcoin questions, but I figured it's worth a shot.

I have a machine I've already been running BOINC on for 10 years off and on (usually just during the Winter). I just today found out about Gridcoin. So i downloaded the wallet. But unlike every other wallet I've used, this one did not ask me where on my filesystem I'd like to create my blockchain/wallet folder. Sooooo anyone know where it's located? And how I can move it? I also use this machine for my wallets, and I like to keep all the blockchains in a unified, easy to access location since they are so unwieldy. And of course I need to back up the wallet files.
