I have a spare board, and recently bought a blade on E-Bay that was advertised with a dead board. Figured since I had a new board, I could replace it. Got it home, hooked it up and it's hashing fine. If you need a board for $40 let me know.
You are talking about a g-blade! the 5.8 Mh/s with 2 connections. The g-black is a 25Mh/s with a built in controller.

I'm now using the brick power supplies and I'm having no issues.

How easy is it to replace the board, just a couple screws and pop on and off or is it an indepth process?
Very easy you won't need paste the hard part it putting it back the case with the fan, i replaced the fans to it runs a lot quieter and cooler now or seems to , if you have the wrong tools it's hard so i bought a nice set of the right tools now it's cake . by right tools i mean long enough screw driver etc it is a tight fit in the case, others wise very easy.
I think 6 to 8 screws per board the heat sinks come thermal padded or heat treated , unless you want to use a new pad you won't need to .
Well ultimately it seems like one of the 2 gridseed is bad....
its very odd because I ordered a new power supply and got it yesterday. Set everything up and all 4 blades were submitting share then i wake up to an internet outages, and once i get back up and urnning, im back to the problem where one blade submits no shares even with the new power suplpies... very odd that i got it working for like 8 hours then internet crash, totally unrelated makes the gridseed go back to not working

Sound like bad ones i had to replace two boards on mine there is a guy on ebay that sells the boards for 30 bucks each free shipping in the US . but it sounds like bad boards .
It would do the exact same thing till i replaced the boards in my case now it hashes set at 800 freg steady 25 to 29 MH depending on the pool .

one way to test it is plug in only the boards that are acting up, one at a time if they don't hash by there self then they might be bad . it seems there is no set way of plugging them in either but i set it up according to the numbers on the built in USB hub it comes with .
or you can run them on a external USB you might need more cables etc to test the HUb to see if it's bad etc .
I agree that having enough power available for each of the blades is crucial. I have four of them and I power them by 2 units of industrial 12V/20A supplies and since then I get very good results (up to ~24.5MHs when solo-mining).
I would advice you to check the voltage you feed into the blades with a multimeter, I bet you see it drop to 11V or lower.
Make sure you have proper 12V wiring to the blades. Also the wires leading from power supply to the blades need to have a good diameter. With my first setup I had a few of the (too thin) power wires to the blades melted together in less than 4 hours.
Also let us know what your power supply is rated for, as good measure you will need ~10A rating per blade.

It's very likely the power supply is your problem. If you unplug the power from one of the blades submitting shares it will still show it as hashing but will stop submitting shares because it doesn't have the power to actually hash.
