Hopefully the OP lets us know what is going on soon. I'd like 6 units and a controller if this group buy goes through. Thanks.

The company I work for has two manufacturing plants in China, and I might be able to arrange to have an order shipped there and then to Indiana (near Louisville, Ky).  I'll check with the guys I know over there, to see if they would be willing to forward everything to me.  My employer also allows us to ship via UPS using their rates so shipping within the US would be very reasonable.

For the people that have spoken to Gridseed, what kind of lead time are we looking at after the payment is received?  Do we know how they will handle RMA's?  I am assuming the product will have to be shipped back to them.

So far, the things need to be in motion to move forward.

1. Escrow (reputable person only)
2. A person who held a previous group buy to join this

In for 10-30 mattering the terms that can be arranged and payment method. I assume USD will be accepted in some form since you have to pay Gridseed with fiat.

Price is at least $90 cheaper than all other group buys, so is op undercharging or others overcharging? Having said that i am also in at that price.

Others are over charging by almost 100-200%

That is what I was thinking also. I really hope we can get this one going.

I am in for at least 20 at that price ... already have 10 of the lightningasic ones, but that was 1.5x more expensive.  Going to need a great housing solution if this goes through.

Frieght forwarders .. I have not dealt directly with any of these, but all are large and have good reps... these may actually be too large.  I suspect a lot of forwarders go by the pallet but it is worth asking:

http://www.sagaforwardingchina.com/
http://www.ems.com.cn/mainservice/cnpl/e_guo_ji_wu_liu.html
http://www.tibagroup.com/cn/freight-forwarders-china (not chinese, but looks like they have substantial chinese ops)

Make sure to ask what incoterms apply - it makes a big difference in cost (for example, insurance you may need to buy seperately depending on the incoterm applied).

Also, most forwarders only deliver to an international port - from there you need to arrange pickup.

Have a contact in China that I trust to reship.  I've asked if he were available to reship these items, but he needs to know more information on how they are shipped.

how large are boxes, how many, etc...

Presumably these would need to be shipped to a single (or maybe multiple) US addresses for local repackaging/shipping into individual order quantities.

Assuming we have a valid / trusted shipping lane in China, is anyone going to put an actual order together?  I am willing to purchase a few.

also had a question regarding the updated firmware, reportedly giving 500Kh/s in scrypt only mode?  Will these units ship with the updated firmware, or will they be field upgrade-able?

baldpope

The forum is flooded by gridseed groupbuys , a lot of people are willing to buy especially at manufacturer's price. The problem I can see is logistics and of course trust.

The 500 kh/s is not an open source code as mentioned in other threads - the firmware was developed by one of the resellers.

OK,

I'm starting to get irritated on purchasing the Gridseed units.  More than happy to bulk purchase 200 units (and keep 100 for myself), working with Frank with multiple emails, but having to have it shipped to someone in China, to reship to me is something I don't have the trust factor with, and to be honest is the one reason I haven't moved forward to purchase these in bulk and resell some in the US.

So if people want these - we need to find out how to get them out of China Smiley

I have a friend in China that buys me the miners, and ships them out if you are willing to work something out, pm me. And I will be willing to buy a couple of the remaining 100.

I was devastated when I found that they are not willing to ship directly to the U.S. having to find a reliable and honest person to reship the units here is defiantly a huge concern of mine as well. My social network to china goes as far as watching IP man lol  Cheesy

I'm probably going to end up buying these at retail price god damn it

I think u need guys a forwarding company in China that ships to US. When u fill up the Gridseed order form, have it send to the address of the forwarding company (address in China) and let the forwarding company ship the items to u.

Hope this helps.

"Bank wire transfer was the only option, payment in either RMB or USD"

I talked to them and they said they won't accept any foreign bank payments.

OK, Gridseed/Frank knew I was from Australia from the 1st email I sent him and he also attached the Order Form to that last email for me to proceed if I wanted to go ahead. Once I saw he changed the minimum buy from 100 to 200 units I was pissed off and have not been in contact with him since Saturday, I had 2 other people who were going to buy as a single group so we could meet the min of 100 units but going to 200 units was abit too much.....

Edit, Price was quoted in USD/RMD but didn't get far enough to confirm they only took RMB in the end.
How did you get in touch with them?

Via email, I went to Gridseed's website and sent an email to [email protected], just letting you know 1st email was sent on the 15th Jan and only got a reply last week as there inbox was swamped. Since then I've had many fast reply back and forth.

I also have been in contact with Frank from Gridseed, I originally got a quote with a minimum of 100 units and then sent him another email to say that I was interested in purchasing 100 units and asked a few more questions regarding DOA units, warranty on devices, etc before filling out the Order form and then on Saturday 15th Feb got an email stating that:

"There is one adjustment to my last email: Since we have received too many orders (especially from our customers in China), and our manufacturing ability is limited. We only take oversea orders over 200 units."

Moreover, you probably need a controller to get the devices going, we suggest you purchase 1 controller for every 15 devices. The price of each controller is 67 USD. For details of controller, please see http://www.diginforce.com/goods.php?id=37 The site is in Chinese, we will have English manual available next week.
You need to buy cables, power adapter and USB hub yourself. There might be voltage difference between your country and China, you might need a transformer.
Please note the above price is only valid for next week, due to the dynamic of the industry and increasing cost, we have to adjust price from time to time.

I wasn't happy about that, I can confirm that 200 units is now the minimum and price quoted was $160 USD and price is subject to change and they said they DO NOT ship outside of CHINA, you will have to organise courier.

If anyone from Australia is thinking of buying some PM me, if we can get enough people/units to meet 200 devices let me know, best to pool together to make this happen..

What payment methods that they told you they accept?

It's accurate.  I've been in contact and coordination with shipping with Gridseed for bulk purchase and quoted similar pricing (though the controller pricing has went up).

well, since this is still in the prelim. stage, then I tentatively would consider 15 units plus 1 controller....but should a better deal or similar priced group buy come together first by a trusted member, then I am on it....

I haven't counted the amount were up to, but it seems like this is the right price, and will happen @ 200 units no prob.

I can also confirm the pricing looks in line (although cheaper) than what I was originally quoted.  the issue as stated is the min 200 unit order and the reship from china to stateside.

I'm in for a couple of units.  I'm also checking to see if I can get USD funding to bulk order and just sell once received stateside.

Possible they already have a price increase. When did you receive the quotation from them?

I received the same quote from them, they also posted the pricing in cybtc.com.

Sorry, i'm not familiar. Just wanna ask, would escrow work on this? As they require to pay them before they ship out the products.

Personally, I don't think escrow will work, unless OP has 32k$ min. .

Its actually more then that because considering shipping. I believe it maybe pretty heavy because heat sinks

Yah, you also have to factor in bank charges, shipping cost, repacking, etc. 1 usb mining machine weighs 418g, so it's 4.18 kg for a set of 10.

I thought so, that's why the OP organised the group buy in the first place.

This is off-topic - Is there a buying agent who can distribute worldwide?

Yep, there are a lot of them, you just need to be able to find one reliable. But if you have a friend in China, like I do,it is way easier.

I'd buy 30 if escrow is an option!

I'm seeing alot of these posts popping up, I keep trying to get involved to get some security involved, But nothing.

Might do one of my own  Cool

You should. they only require 100 units for an order direct from Gridseed. You just need an address in China to receive them. I'm in if you do.

Thats the problem, Who do I trust for this? I don't know anyone in china, And if I did, Would I trust them with such an amount.

They have upped the minimum buy to 200 now. Just so you know.

There are lots of companies in china that can do verifications etc... Is gridseed selling the miners themselves or only chips?

Where?  Why not order the 100 and just take delivery and resell at 50% profit.

I'm in UK, so I would pay a 20% import duties + fees, So I would be asking more than selling price. but cheaper than you buying and paying 20% more.

I'll take 10 if you do escrow and distribute them from within the EU. The missing CE-sign
is a big problem otherwise. Where are you located?

I'll do 10 if you offer escrow and have an active pre-order on the Diginforce site or from a verified provider. FYI I've had a preorder in on Diginforce's site for over 10 days so hopefully you're has been put in before that.

I'm looking to put together a groupbuy for the gridseed - cost is
200-999 units: 160 USD/unit
1000+ units: 155 USD/unit

1 Controller is needed for up to 15 devices @ $60 USD per controller

Minimum of 200 units for groupbuy to move forward - hosting can be provided if needed/wanted at a tier 1 data center

any interest?
