I live in the Philippines and the cost per kw/h is below $0.05 can the antminer be used  in mining altcoins if I change my mind in the future?

I was talking about the the orbs... Sorry about that. I wanted something that could mine BTC then switch to altcoins in the future

not  a viable plan right now.  the 5 chip units won't hash enough btc for the price.  A few questions you mention power price is not a concern.

how much power do you have and what is the price you pay for it.

I ask because antminer s-1 units  are still a good deal if your power is really cheap or free.

I had a 3 s-1 setup I under volted and under clocked them the 3 units got 420 gh at 560 watts.

If you have the ability to power the above setup even use 4 of them  . at 560 gh and at 750 watts  they are a good deal for you.

even 1 at 140gh and 180 watts will run very quietly .   they go cheap right now

here is one on ebay overclocked it will be loud and pull 400 watts doing 200gh

here is one underclocked on ebay

he get 245 watts doing 140gh .  mine did better 186 watts and 140gh but I had really good psu's

either deal above is not terrible if your power is under 5 cents a watt.

Are you talking about Gridseed orbs or Gridseed G-Blades?

Mining BTC on Gridseed orb would be pointless, they only do about 8 GH/s at 50W+, so 5 of them would do 40 Gh/s at 250W. You can get better equipment (with higher hash rate and lower wattage) for the money.

I see that the price has dropped for gridseeds and was wondering if I could still mine BTC using say 5 gridseeds, then by the end of the year switch them to mining altcoins? Electricity is not a factor and gaining btc on a regular basis would be the goal. Any input on this would be much appreciated.
