Sorry, I haven't been back to this post for a while!

I actually got those heatsinks from Jaycar Electronics here in Melbourne. They were just the right size. Had to drill the holes myself of course, but easy to mark them out and with the drill press.

+1 for this. Also in my experience cgminer is much more stable than bfgminer for the Gridseed units. I don't know if it was my setup but I constantly had boards going down when using minera + bfgminer. After awhile one or more would just stop hashing and I had to restart the miner. I switched to cgminer and those problems stopped completely. But if you use Minera, they both come pre-installed and you can decide which works best for you. Also just want to mention you don't necessarily need a Rasp Pi to run Minera. Its based on the Debian Linux Distro so you can install it on any regular computer as well. You just need to have a USB hub for the miners to plug into.

If you have a Pi download Minera, it has great drivers built in for the G-Blades.  Something else to remember with these, I use CGMiner and you have to start the miner then quickly plug the boards into the USB (or power on the hub), it will start hashing then.  With Minera, you can't solo mine but no issue with the blades

Yay! I finally got the blades to work... guess I won't be hassling eBay for a refund.

Incase anyone else gets into the same trouble, download the BFGMiner 3.00 from:

The correct parameters for BFG miner to detect the blades is:

bfgminer.exe --scrypt -o u -p -d gridseed -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=600

You can also tinker with the clock setting from 600 up to 850, but I found that 850 resulted in more HW errors, but I'll play with it some more till I find a good speed without frying the cards.

Also, on a sidenote, if anyone's interested... I have a handy tool for backing up your wallet dat files. No scams, sourcecode is included.

Thanks for that. I actually have 4 boards.

I know that they should have come in a metal box, but the eBay seller is being abit dodgey. The images they showed on the ad clearly show the box, but they only shipped me the cards. I'm abit peeved off about that, as the product doesn't match the images.

The frame that I built should be sufficient for now, but I'm going to hassle eBay and get a refund if I can't get these to work. I can't verify that the cards actually work atm.

I've downloaded the STM drivers from the following site and reinstalled:

What should the devices appear as in the device manager?

Also, can you please post me a copy of your config file for BFGminer? (you can mask out the username/password of course!)

That is one board of a Gridseed Blade (which usually came with 2 boards in a metal box)...
Or Gridseed Blacks that came with 10 such 40 chip boards in a box with power supply built-in.

So one board is about 2.5M of scrypt hashing power, not much...
And the only way I've been able to get Gridseeds to hash are using STM Virtual Com Port and bfgminer 3.10

I still run about 30 boards like that and a Zeus... ONLY because I have free power.

No advice? Surely someone must be able to steer me in the right direction
 

Hi guys,
I just purchased a couple of Gridseed boards from eBay and I'm having quite some trouble getting these set up and hoping you guys can help. I've used GPU's (Radeons) and Antminers (S1, S2, S3, S5's) in the past without any problems.

I've got a Corsair RM750 PSU to power these up.

I've made a frame and mounted a couple of fans on either end, and attached a chunky heatsink directly to the back of the Gridseed with some Deepcool Z5 compound.

The markings on the Gridseed show D25359H.

When I connect the power supply to the card, nothing happens. There is 12v at the tip of the power cable so it should be getting power. The fan does not spin.

When I connect the board to the USB port on my computer, I get a slow red flashing LED and an Unknown Device appearing in the Device Manager (Windows 7 Pro x64).

I've downloaded a couple of different drivers, but no luck. STW-STM32102 and CDM 2.08.30 WHQL Certified.

I've also installed ZADIG 2.1.2 and it does recognize something. It changes the Unknown Device to Unknown Device #1 and places it in the Universal Serial Bus Devices category.

I've also tried a couple of cgminer and sgminer suggestions I've found as well.

Can someone please provide me with a clearer step-by-step guide to set these up? eg. Download links for the correct drivers and cgminer configuration? I've got no idea what I'm doing incorrectly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
