No countdown yet.  The official launch will be in the future, but for now, just enjoy the currency in its "preview."  Even though the full Application is at your disposal, their is no Windows/Mac 10.9 QT yet, so thos will come with the official launch.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the algorithm.  I just updated it.  It's Scrypt, btw.

GRIFCOIN: FIRST CURRENCY BASED ON POPULAR WEB SERIES, RED VS BLUE

If you are a fan of Red vs Blue on Roosterteeth, then this cryptocurrency is for you!  Based on a character known as Grif, Grifcoin is a new altcoin for the true RvB fans.  If you haven't seen RvB, check it out on Roosterteeth (http://roosterteeth.com/archive/?sid=rvb&v=more).  Remember to start on Season 1!

This is still very early in development.  I am just releasing to those who want to get started early.  In order to establish some sort of value, I am going to back Grifcoin: 0.01 BTC for every 5,000 GFC.  Being that the average subpar laptop can (as of now) mine Grifcoin about 1,500 per night, I think this is pretty generous.  Basically, if you donate some of your computing power to the network and manage to mine 5,000 Grifcoins, I will send you 0.01 Bitcoins.

Specs
Initial Coin per Block: 40
Halving Rate: 525600 blocks (about every 4 years)
Block Generation: 2 minutes
Readjust Difficulty: 2 days
Maximum Coins: 42,000,000
Algorithm: Scrypt

Setup
Windows: (coming soon)

Mac: First, make sure you are not on 10.9 by going to "About this Mac."  Once you have verified that you are on 10.8 or less, open the downloaded zip file and run the Grifcoin-Qt application enclosed.  It will launch, and your wallet will appear.  However, at the bottom right, it will show a symbol signaling that it cannot connect to the network.  Quit out of the wallet and go to your home folder in Finder.  Once there, do Cmd+Shift+G, and a box will drop down allowing you to go to a folder.  Type in "library" and press enter.  You will be taken to the hidden Library folder.  From there, go to the Application Support folder, and look for your newly generated GrifCoin folder.  Go inside, and put in the "grifcoin.conf" file that came in the original zip.  Once the file is moved, close out of Finder and open up your wallet once more.  The bottom should show a connection symbol, and hovering your mouse over it should reveal that there is at least one active connection.  Wait a few seconds for the wallet to sync with the network.  Now, you can begin mining!  Go to "Help" at the top, and select "Debug window."  Now, just type in "setgenerate true" for the mining to begin.  Leave this running for a few days, and you will eventually see Grifcoins begin to pop up in your wallet.  Enjoy!
