Of course, being number 1 or 2 on the CoinMarketCap does not mean that are the best projects out there. In fact,  we all know there are many good, even better projects than bitcoin and ethereum - the people only just trust the top two because they are the two major coins that came out early.
I think that the first positions do not mean that the coins are better, but they mean that the coins are more liquid and more reliable. There are many projects that are faster or more convenient than Bitcoin or Ethereum, but users generally vote with their investments for the first places in CMC.

I would disagree about investors not being silly.  I'd guess 98% of ETH investors have never even tried to download the blockchain.  It's a good proof of concept, but I don't see how it can retain value long term.  Grin/Beam tech is simply better, and Ravencoin tech is even better suited for what ETH is mainly used for.

People like you that come and hype your coin being better than the top 1 and 2 are a shame to the crypto community. Nobody invests in something to lose money. If bitcoin and ethereum are top 1 and 2 means people are not stupid to believe in craps like you trolls throw at. I feel sorry for the really stupid people that might believe you. Bitcoin and ethereum are proven coins, the others coins you spoke of, as far as i can tell are not hence why is not close to in market cap of bitcoin, ethereum and so on. Go troll somewhere else.

I never mentioned Bitcoin, and Ethereum is a joke, the market just doesn’t recognize it as such yet. I’d bet dollars to donuts that you don’t run an Ethereum full node and likely never have.

I love Bitcoin and I’ve been mining for 8 years so I think my opinion should be taken more seriously than a troll.
Yeah I'm also certain that many of these Ethereum "Investor" never run a full node and just make MEW wallet. I also heard that ETH has this scalability issues where they hard to scale in TPS point of view.

Just because ETH is on number 2 marketcap wise, it doesn't prove anything. Stop using marketcap as your point.

Mine Grin because it will pump and it seems different than other coins. Forget about Raven because it is selling time now for rvn.
My favorite coin was RavenCoin but I'm currently planning to move into Grin and Veil they both have no premines and I think they are worth mining too. No premines means the coins are trustworthy. For Beam, I think it's similar to Grin but the Grin more advanced in terms of technology.

Don't support projects with premines, develper fees, ICOs or founders rewards. Such things exist only to easily enrich the creators behind it. That wasn't what crypto was made for.
I don't know if some of those three fits in what I said, but I would choose one that fits.

Viewed in terms of price and performance enough to compete with GTX 1070Ti, GTX, and 1660Ti comes with the presence of more recent architecture and power efficiency for the better.

And GPU Nvidia I think it's familiar with GRIN, which algorithm X16R as coins Ravencoin, VEIL or other but if you’ve already got a machine with a 10 series NVIDIA GPU, and have reasonably low electricity costs, it could be possible to turn a profit.

Between these 3, I would definitely go for beam.
One of the things this choice depends on, is your aim while mining, for me, mining is all about accumulation and the profit to be taken during bull runs. So, this being said, and considering the fundamental analisys of each of these coins, I would definitely go for beam as they are building an auditable private coin and also working with japanese authorities (yes, the anti-privacy coins) to build a compliant system. I see a lot of potential here...

Mining these currencies now is relatively cost-effective to purchase. If you plan to dig. Need to calculate the cost. Electricity is a large part of the cost output, and I like to buy it directly. If it looks good.

RVN was the first coin with X16R. There were lots of coins with this algo later. And only RVN at top yet.
The same situation with BEAM/GRIN now. They can be not the most profit now, but they can be good in HODL.
Your decision depends on your tasks. If you ready to wait for months - it can be BEAM/GRIN, if you need money right now - RVN, if you want maximize you profits - mine onemoment top and convert to the best hodling coin.

yeah most of us can't run ethereum node, unless have high specs hardware and even with that it would take more than a week to fully sync, while bitcoin or other blockchains sync in less than 5 hours.

Not a fan of coins that have a tax like beam does.  This is why I think zcash is complete shit.  Honestly I think all three of the coins you mentioned are not good investments.  Just stick with bitcoin and ethereum if you want to see real profits overtime that aren't just pump and dumps.

There is a reason why bitcoin and ethereum are top coins, investors are not silly, as right now bitcoin still leads for what it represents, ethereum will surpass it as it goes cause that is where the crypto market will be going, simple economics. With quantum computers things might change how information is sent but for now bitcoin and ethereum are the coins that move the markets and all other cryptocoins.

Beam... Really guys dont like the fact that there are contributions to developers. Grin now has a very strong inflation.
So far my choice is ravencoin if you choose from these large projects.

Let me guess, you chose ravencoin because of his pump. When it was equal to cost 300 satoshi, no one remembered about him or spoke.
Well, why not?
even if that is the case, it still makes sense at the current moment. Setting up mining is not so long - you can switch to another Smiley

I will stay with Grin and Beam, if I were you, both are new to the space with huge promising technology behind them, I don't know if this is going to be included in Bitcoin in future but before that money to be made in these coins, Ravecoin has pumped greatly lately and potential for growth is lower as compared to the other two

GPU mining is not bad, it's even more profitable sometimes. the only problem with the GPU mining I think is you can only get $3-$5 a day.

Not to many asics are out there what can make more than 5$/day Smiley
There is maybe around 10 asic hardware as of now what you can order, what can make you more than 5$/day if you paying around 12-14cents/kwh for electricity
But those ASIC's hardware prices are a little bit high Wink and some of those you have to pre-order , and wait sometimes a month or more to get what you paid for Smiley

For me paying 6-7000$+shipping and taxes for a asic with a 40$ daily income, doesn't sounds like a good deal Smiley
or paying 18000$+shipping and taxes for a asic with a daily income of 16$ make no sense to me at all.

I built many gpu rigs in 2016 for myself and for others. All of those mining rigs are still up and hashing Smiley and still generating profit.
But at the same time i can not say this for any of the asics i purchased in 2016 Smiley none of them generating any kind of profit as of now.

Hi guys,
I just want to ask which one among these altcoins: Grin, Ravencoin, and Beam is the most profitable coin to mine using GPU?
They all seem new to me, that is why I decided to get a little help before I go ahead to start mining one. thanks Smiley

There is no straight answer to your question, what is profitable today, might going to worth nothing tomorrow .
Think about the future and true potential of a coin? I'm not actually talking about the daily profits, I know it varies from a day to another.

Yeah.. Lot of newbies thought about the future and about the potential of the coins in the future.
So all of them jumped into mining, based they decision on a online calculator Smiley in 2017 December and 2018 January.
They paid a crazy high prices for ASIC's, GPU's sometimes 3x, 4x times over MSRP . Now all this ppl coming back to this forum and crying about mining is not profitable anymore, or omg one of my rig making only 900$/year, that's bad ..
Some members like me warned them about the potential risk.
Some of us was right, some of us not !
You have to make your own decision, you have to do your own research about coins, coins future. Then decide .
Just because im saying "this" coin is good and have a future, its probably not true.
Just because "John Doe" saying this coin is not right, this coin don't have any future, it doesn't mean that's true either.

I am looking to get into mining but not in a big way. I just want to buy one or two GPUs and put into my existing computer. I figure if nothing else I can SLI them together for gaming...

The perfect reason to mine with a gpu or two.

And why it is never too late to start mining for a gamer.

Thanks for the encouragement! From the looks of things around here most people are hostile to new miners. While I know I missed the boat so to speak, I am only doing it as a hobby, and as you said I can game with the cards as well.

I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY NEWBIES KEEP ASKING THE SAME QUESTION " ITS TO LATE TO START MINING , IT IS STILL PROFITABLE ? WHY MY EARNING IS LESS THAN ALL THOSE ONLINE CALCULATORS TELLING ME? WHAT IS THE BEST COIN TO MINE ? WHAT IS THE MOST PROFITABLE COIN TO MINE"

No one can tell you !
Always going to be a 2 group of ppl who telling you it's ok go for it , or dont bc you just wasting ur money and time !
You have to make a decision for yourself !
Do your own research !
No one can tell you for sure what's going to happen with cryptocurrency !
No one can tell you it's going to be profitable for you or not !
No one can tell you how much profit you going to be able to make ! ( if you can make any at all )
No one can tell you the ROI ( return of investment) time !
No one can tell you what is the best coin to mine !
No one can tell you what is the most profitable coin to mine! Coins profitability always changing, what is best to mine today, maybe going to be the worst to mine tomorrow !
None of those calculators you are seeing on the web can tell you what's coming tomorrow , months later or 6 months later !
Those calculators telling you about today , at that moment when you typing in your information !
None of those online calculators calculating pool luck !
None of those online calculators calculating your stale/rejected or invalid shares !
None of those online calculators able to predict difficulty growth !
None of those online calculators can predict what would be the coin/$ exchanges rates a minutes later, a hour later,  tomorrow, next week,  months later, 6 months later or a year later !
It's little bit of gambling , you must to decide you want to play on the lottery or not  Grin
YES some of us got lucky , made some money with mining
YES some of us got unlucky , lost some money , bc when price started to fall , sold they coins , miners...

! INVEST ONLY WHAT YOU'RE WILLING AND ABLE TO LOSE !
! INVEST WITH THE UNDERSTANDING , THAT YOU COULD LOSE EVERYTHING !

Go with Bitcoin you will not need to worry about anything else 🙂
These altcoins has punp and dump. Even the value goes to zero. So why take too much risk?
Doing bitcoin mining already but now I decide it's time to venture into GPU/altcoin mining. I'm getting too tired of the ASICs they are too noisy.
