Hello.
Just my five cents:

I have 1 rig with 8x1070 Gygabite G1 8Mb.
I use W10 and Afterburner.

Settings are:
+100 core
+700 mem
TDP: 70%
Fan: AUTO

+- 30m/h ETH
+-450 equihash

Temps all around 65º

Hello all

i try to switch from ETH Mining to Zcash Mining but have problem with the OC

i have some GTX 1070's
running on ewbf-0.3.4b / simple mining / linux

i put OC

Core Empty, Memory +500, Power limit : 120 watt

i get 420 Sol/s but my GTX 1070's are getting very very hot about 80 C

i am lost

does somebody have an OC stable with GTX 1070's under 70 C ?

thank you all for your help sincerely.

Regular 1080 is not good at all for mining Eth, hash rate = 18~20
1070 is ok for both, 28~31 Eth, 430~460 Zec
1080Ti is another story, 31 Eth (even when TDP is set all the way down to -50%) and 712/Sol Zec stock.

The above reading are based on my cards.

dont put your vga close to wall  put in room with air flow , if you use 4++ vga buy some extra fan

i use 6x 1070  strix oc 8gb

core default
memory default
power limit 90%
Target Temperature ℃: link with power limit
fan speed lock 50%

average temp 58-65 max,  hash rate 431-450

is it bad if my RIG restart every 20 minutes ?

Best regards

I got the same problem before. Then I tried to reduce OC and added the 2nd RAM with 4GB, and now it works perfectly.

Best regards

Why is it restarting? Normally my rigs run for days or even weeks without any issues.

around 74 degrees when i mine ETH and yes fan works i think it might be the location where they are because it is getting hot in here.

That can have quite a bit of effect on card temps.

Also, how much SPACE do you have between the cards - if it is less than 1 inch it isn't NEARLY enough for proper cooling, really need 2-3 inches for good cooling.

You still haven't mentioned what you have your fans SET at - if you are using the "standard factory" settings, that IS your issue and you need to bump your fan speeds up.

GTX 1070 has TDP is 150W

 That varies.
Many are 151 watts (not 150), like the FE and Gigabyte "ITX" and MSI "Aero mini" and EVGA SC (specific examples I have), some are 180 like the Gigabtye Windforce (both 2 AND 3 fan models), at least one MSI model is 240.

"Optimal settings" also vary as the DEFAULT clock on cards varies widely, the default MEMORY clock varies some, and various brands of memory tend to have differing ability to overclock.
"Optimal settings" should be specified as being for a specific card model - and there is enough variation even THERE that sometimes the optimal settings for ONE specific card will be "can't handle this, crashing all the time" on another card of the SAME model.

"Simple Mining" is a LINUX based distribution, Linux controls for TDP for NVidia are in watts not a percentage - which IMO is a LOT more sensible.

does somebody have an idea ?

because on simple mining power limit is in watt and not %

core empty
memory +500
power limit ( in watt ) :120
Target Temperature ℃:
73
Minimum Fan speed %:
70

i get around 433 sol/s per card

but IT IS GOING AROUND 82 TEMP...82 DEGREES.

what do you guys think

You said that you previously mined Ethash algo. What temperatures did you have then? And if your GTX1070 model is Gigabyte G1 80 degrees is too hot. It seems the issue with cooling system. Do the fans works properly? Check them

around 74 degrees when i mine ETH and yes fan works i think it might be the location where they are because it is getting hot in here.
i have put a plastic HUT outside my house with a fan that take the outside fresh air and put it inside and a fan that take the HUT air outside.
Use usb riser to place them in a way with better air flow, in the long run gpu fans can break with temp like that .

i dont understand when you say power limit 80 % how much it is in watt ?

because on simple mining power limit is in watt and not %

anyway i give you the exact OC and you tell me where the problem is from

core empty
memory +500
power limit ( in watt ) :120
Target Temperature ℃:
75

70

what do you guys think

GTX 1070 has TDP is 150W, so yes 80% PL is 120W as same as your setting.
I tried many tests with 13 GPUs on SOS as well, optimum setting is: 120W, +120 Core, +100 Mem, 75 temp target, 70% Min Fan speed, average hashrate is 436 sol/s. I think it's not that high, but acceptable for me. When I did the same setting for 6-8 cards, average hashrate is about 445-448 sol/s.

is you cooler in auto mode or it is force for some % like 60-70%?
try to set it for 100%, Pl to 80%, core +150 and memory + 400
usually 1070 can push with these setting around 460-480 sol/s, depends on chip and manufacturer
try to play with the settings. it is also possible that you card has some problem with radiator..

ehmm you could do some custom watercooling on you'r video cards. That will might help with the temperature and you can may cramp some more power out of them too Wink

It's more useful to give your actual core&mem clock, than "+150", "+500". Because all videochips and default clocks on them are different, even on the same model of the same vendor

I find the G1 model of GB in general not that good. My windforce versions stay much cooler with similar output and settings. I think that the backplate which is supposed to look badass actually decreases the cooling capacity.

I do manage to keep the card under 70C with roughly 460 sol/s at a low PL anf high efficiency. Nevertheless I will avoid the card layout in the future.

You appear to have some sort of cooling issues, or the room that miner is in gets VERY hot - or you have the fan settings WAY too low.

For Equihash mining, as I know it's matter with Core clock rather than Memory. So my setting for MSI 1070: 80% Power limit, +100 Core, +50 Mem, hashrate is stable at 447 sol/s.

-Power Limit 100%
-Core Clock = stock left that alone
-Mem Clock +960
-Fan 100%

with these settings the cards using around 85-88% power
and GPU Temp 57-59c

I have no issue getting up to 500 sols/s usually in the upper 480 on my MSI Gaming X 1070s. I have 4 of them all with micron memory (yuck). My setting are 77 TDP and temp limit to 73. Core +150 and memory +600. Been running stable for weeks. Redirected at BTG so my results are a little less now but still holding strong in the high 490s. I never see temps over 62 C with a custom fan graph of around 70-77 percent speed depending on temp.
