After some research, I found out that gpu throttles down to 2D mode clocks when running only miner program. A 3D GPU accelerated program is needed to keep GPU overclocked (like having a Chrome windows open). You can also change this setting under Nvidia control panel with an option like always on 3D (I may not recall correctly) to force your card into 3D mode disregarding of even if its on desktop 2D view.

Thats how gpu boost 3.0 works

Does it downclocks even under load? So is it not possible to run at 2050 MHz for like 2 days? Then this means my hashrates won't be stabled. Any advice to overcome this. I mean run the GPU at 2050 clock like forever?

I run +100/+1000 on my EVGA 1080 Hybrid and it sits at 2050 mhz for days on end with EWBF once overclocked by afterburner. How are the card temps? Even afterburner will throttle you if you get too hot.

Hi guys,

I got a KFA GTX1080 exoc and I'm running solo GPU on +100 clock and +750 mem on windows 10 x64 with EWBF. After mining for few hours card downclocks itself to 1650 MHz for sometime being then boosts upto 2050 MHz again. Any ideas? When I check it from GPU-Z there is no throttling regards of vrel, heat etc. Restarting miner doesn't works nor profile switching with afterburner. Only restart resolves this matter but after a while it comes down to this again. Any help is appreciated.
