Compare a 1070ti to a 1080ti, not a 1070 to a 1080ti. Jezzus.
If you can grab the 1080ti with no power cost go for it. You can expand to more 1080tis in the future and have greater hash power without having to add more 1070tis to equal the same amount of hashing power. Less equipment means less issues usually.
I would suggest him to try finding a 1070ti for a little higher price than 1070. The advantage in performance is well worth the price.
I am gonna day grab the 1080 Ti , cause even if it does bad on ether I’m it does a hell lot of good on other algos like equihash , XVC and many others

And u can always sell the 1080 ti to gamers at a lot higher price then 1070 , if he’s going a single card and has the budget then he should definitely get the 1080ti else if he is gonna get more the 1 card he should consider 1070ti and other alternative and use what to mine.com or nicehash profitibilty calculator to get a general idea about the profits , Right now the profits are huge so the estimate might be off track if price decreases

My friend is going to be grabbing the 1080 Ti for mining with NiceHash, but I was under the impression that the GDDR5X ram isn't that great for mining. Would the 1070 be a better option? A 1070 can be had for around $400. 1080 Ti is about $760. He doesn't pay anything for power, so just purely accounting for hash power per dollar spent, what's the best option?
Also, is NiceHash a good solution for him or would you guys recommend any alternatives? What has been your personal experience with it? Any help or information is appreciated.
