Fortunately only two people died there. The death toll could have been much higher, as the German cops are not permitted to use fire-arms. Anyone in the vicinity of the perpetrator would have been sitting ducks (remember the 2011 Norway attacks?). Thankfully, the incident occurred in a sparsely populated area, and the gunman seems to have refrained from shooting more people.
In this case the employees of a gas station took care of the situation since obviously the guy was not very smart.He actually put his gun on the counter, and the female employee grabbed it.
