I'm beginning to think I should just put in my tagline: If you want to pay with PayPal YOU can go first.

I would advise everyone to have a look at https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/beware-of-paypal-and-other-reversible-transfer-services-14632 and not to use reversible forms of payments for selling btcs.
And as for being a "reputable" member of the forum, everyone can buy accounts, due to the account market. One hero member costs about 0.4-0.5 which is about 1/3rd of the amount OP is exchanging, and if he wants, can easily scam you for.

You're right regarding the hero member cost, though I have taken part in deals in much larger amount than that.
I have no problem to split the deal to several payment if the buyer is not confident in me
Maybe lower the minimum deal, and only have the next deal after the "reverse limit"(dont know whats it called, but the thing , after 3 months yo cant reverse a payment). That way it will be safe for buyers(of paypal).
And why not use something easy like virwox? I know they do take some fees, but it would be faster that way IMO.

Virwox is not at all easier. First of all, on this amount of $3,000 they would charge you about $450 of fees and it would take you few days of trading if you have a tier 3 account which basically let's you exchange $300 a day or tier 4 which let you exchange more, but this account you get on demand and after thorough verification.

As you said that you never used them, this means that you don't have any of these levels. So the best is to stay away from Virwox.

Just saying, just because you're a Hero Member doesn't mean people will blindly follow you and do a $3,000 trade with you. I would say you should do increment deals of ~$50 PayPal. (That's still very easily scammable so tbh you're going to have to probably use another payment gateway.)

Never had any experience with it, I used to have lots of customers dealing with pp with me but I haven't traded in a while..

I will lower the amount to anything I guess
