The boy in the green t-shirt is looking at the pizza like he's thinking "what? you really paid 10.000BTC for these 2 lumps of dough (a crazy amount of money), huh? It would be better if you chose a couple of pizzas from Bitcoin Pizza bake-off contest for these 10.000BTC -it definitely look appetizing, unlike those two lumps."  Grin

For historical bitcoin's chronicle, these pizzas don't look very attractive, yes. But it must be admitted that these pizzas marked the beginning of a new milestone in the bitcoin community.

I starred at this picture for some minutes and many things were occurring to me and one and the most important thing this picture taught me is "Time and Value"

Value is so much dependent on time. What is not valuable today could worth millions tomorrow, take the case of bitcoin for instance. It is correct to say that something worth $0.004 is valueless. But today we can see the value.
In the other hand, there are properties like shoes that was worth upto $5000 dollars in 2010 and today could be valueless.
So, time is the true test of value. Lazlo might have spent $41 worth of 10,000BTC for pizzas, because some people said he doesn't know it will value much in the future. But we that have known today that bitcoin will value much more, me spend more than Lazlo even for things that aren't memorable. Though, bitcoin is first for spending (currency) before it becomes for investment (hodling).

Ofcourse there is a bit of regret on his part. But this historical that he did means a lot actually and im pretty sure that its not the only bitcoin he have to spare. He is a miner and probably have some more than what he spend on the two pizza boxes during those times. I dont remember he mentioned it I think but of course we can just assume it like that.
He was early miner and he made the first commercial transaction and that also with 10,000 bitcoins at that time for just two large pizzas which is worth millions now but he has no regrets with it if we check his previous interviews and he is living the same life programmer life but he is more famous now with the pizza guy.

There is some sort of sadness if we see that way because he would have been billionaire by now if he holds onto his mining reward but we have to use it as payment mode also so it's also not bad if he has done it so.He has ordered several pizzas afterwards also as he was mining bitcoin at that time :

I spent it all on pizza long ago:  https://blockchain.info/address/1XPTgDRhN8RFnzniWCddobD9iKZatrvH4

3-4 years ago there were less than 100 people frequenting this forum, and I was pretty happy to trade 10,000 coins for pizza.  I mean people can say I'm stupid, but it was a great deal at the time.  I don't think anyone could have known it would take off like this. Smiley

Laszlo

But still we are celebrating this day till date in honour of this day and realising the fact how far we have come.

Anyone wants some lovely pizza today?

Happy bitcoin Pizza day guys. If Im not mistaken todays marked the day where one of the greatest transaction in history of bitcoin recorded.

Yes, Laszlo made a history that can never be forgotten for as long as bitcoin continues to exist, I was really overwhelmed and surprised when I got on coinmarketcap and tried checking how much those BTC10,000 are currently worth, when I converted the dollar worth to my country's currency, it ran into over a hundred trillion.
This is alot of money and I really wonder what Laszlo must be feeling like each time he see this.... But anyways, thanks to him for making this history which we celebrate this day, it is a great lesson which teaches us to hodl.

I am late to the celebration of the world pizza day but it's better late than never. Happy pizza day forum mates and all the user here, a big amount of bitcoin has been transacted to buy a pizza Laszlo is the history maker. And yes I am agree with you guys that we won't forget this special day even if There is another transaction will come bigger than before but still the first is the first and never been forgotten.

It's hard to forget this history and I was absolutely blown away when I converted the current one which is up to $298M. For my country's fiat conversion, it's only IDR 4.3 trillion, still enough to live in luxury for several generations.  Cheesy

I feel how sorry he is when one night remembers about this incident but for whatever he has done then we deserve respect for him spending 10K bitcoins just for pizzas. This history will be remembered forever. By the way, if he currently has 1 bitcoin, then I think he will have 10k pizza, that's a perfect reversal.

It might not late to greet everyone a Happy Bitcoin Pizza Day.

Thinking about the huge amount that Jerco's received from Laszlo on that day in exchange for two Pizza, but unfortunately, Jeco's didn't hoard that Bitcoin he spend that Bitcoin as he said.

Laszlo is a true legend that proves Bitcoin's first transaction made, we should thank him and also Jeremy Sturdivant aka “Jercos”.

There was some nice entries on the Discord server. Again, this year I could not participate, and we bought all the products to make it. One of the kids got the chickenpox (i guess the other one is a ticking bomb too) with the perfect timing.. "Thank you" Murphy for your perfectly working laws every single time. Sad

A sumptuous meal and a life of regret

The bitcoin pizza day is one that comes with such a huge lesson. This tells you how a little bit of fun and testing an upcoming investment or field before it's fully materialised can be a worst mistake.it satisfied an immediate want to fill their belly for a time and then left them regretting for the rest of there lives (that depends on if the individualis still alive and involved in cryptocurrencies up to date). This is a lesson that says, you should always be vengeful of an upcoming investment or field and know that the best of it is always in 10-20years and even more, not to jump over doing away with anything at its grass root. It could be a huge mistake.

Nice to see you celebrating the bitcoin pizza day. By the way, did you buy this pizza with bitcoins  Wink
This is an unforgettable history, but I bought Pizza without Bitcoin, my area is still not available so that fiat money can be used.

Although buying it is not with bitcoin but I think this is a unique celebration for all crypto community to do.  Cheesy

sadly in my country not have any pizza campaign for pizza day.
This is the memory of pizza celebration of bitcoin. And it's not everyone who celebrate that. From my understanding majority countries doesn't accept bitcoin for exchange of what your want or need. So exchanging you Bitcoin to fiat to get your own pizza is also part of the celebration, because many people who is celebrating it did not exchange bitcoin with pizza. So the remembrance of it, is a continuous scenario and process and it will remain till disappearance of bitcoin.

You could still do what Laszlo did, 12 years (and 4 days) ago today, when he asked someone to basically just buy (or make) 2 pizzas for him and sell them to him for Bitcoin. You could ask in your local community if someone is willing to simply make or buy you pizzas and be paid by you in BTC.

I'll pay 10,000 bitcoins for a couple of pizzas.. like maybe 2 large ones so I have some left over for the next day.  I like having left over pizza to nibble on later.  You can make the pizza yourself and bring it to my house or order it for me from a delivery place, but what I'm aiming for is getting food delivered in exchange for bitcoins where I don't have to order or prepare it myself, kind of like ordering a 'breakfast platter' at a hotel or something, they just bring you something to eat and you're happy!

Are you guys buying pizzas for the tradition or rather hoard those sats?
Laszlo apparently doesn't regret having spent 10,000 BTC for two pizzas. [1]

I reckon there are food ordering platforms that take Bitcoin payments and organize payment of the restaurants and deliveries.
Grubhub seems to have something up for Bitcoin Pizza Day [2] (not sure what it entails) and in some countries, Just Eat Takeaway brands offer Bitcoin payments directly [3].

The most convenient will probably be just using LNPizza [4], but I'd be interested how other folks around here get their Bitcoin pizzas.. Grin

I think so too, but it is better to let us use this forum time zone for what is related to this forum, I mean posting about it.
Well not that it's wrong to post about it in advance but it's only a day in advance not that matters to me anyway as long as we celebrate the pizza day in here. I would also post about it and include the date when it happen as to notify anyone who doesn't have the same time zone as the poster just like this one. When I saw this thread, all I think is the event that takes place at that time and that's all it matters.

I wonder if people around the world celebrating actually buy pizza with bitcoins that day. For me, the best to celebrate bitcoin pizza day is buying something physical with bitcoins.
Maybe op's time is different and didn't use the Bitcointalk forum's time zone. In my country, it's already May 22 at dawn so I would also say that it is pizza day. It's been so long since I had eaten a pizza and I would like to eat one now Smiley. I wonder if there's a shop in my country where I can buy pizza with Bitcoin even though it's not the same as the OG. As if you are the one who bought pizza with that kind of amount of Bitcoin.
You’re right. It could be a result of difference in time zone, it’s morning somewhere in the world. It would be a delight to see local businesses accept bitcoin as payment. The volatile nature of bitcoin will always be the barrier when it comes to payment adoption by small business owners. They may not have enough money in reserve to back up should bitcoin price falls.
