I would go with the single 1600w because i'm lazy  Grin & Less steps gets the job done faster. If noise is the determining factor I'm sure the 6 GPUs will be louder than the one power supply.  Wink

Hi all ...noob here looking into this mining business. Doing some research!

I've looked at everything but I am left with two questions - both relating to power...

- PSU: I'm looking at a 6x GPU setup. Is it better to go with one big 1600W PSU beast (like the LEPA 1600) or two 850W (like the Corsair AX850). Both high quality platinum 80Plus units. The 1600 I imagine would be far nosier than two tethered 850s. What would people advise?

More on the above. If you advise the later and suggest a 2 configuration setup then I have been looking at the Add2PSU board (http://www.add2psu.com/) ...I've been talking to them about how this unit is used and their customer service is amazing. The product seems perfect and takes all the hassle out of tethering. I'm just not sure how to hook it up so there is no risk of power feedback or any way I can cause damage to my rig.

- PCIe Powered Risers: From my research it appears that powered GPUs draw around 30W on the PCIe slot so a powered riser takes the stress off the m/b. I've read mixed replies from people saying all should be powered and some saying just the 1x to 16x. What's your take on this?

Also ...if you suggest a two PSU setup, would the same PSU powering the m/b also power the riser cables OR should the PSU powering the GPUs power both cables and card. From talking to Add2PSU it seems a 3rd PSU might be advised. 2x 850W tethered using their board and used to power all the cards, fans, hdd etc and the first PSU the master to power just the motherboard.

Thank you all for your advise. Much appreciated!

Nick.
