There is a lot of Info if you read through the forum, here is an into from a mod regarding bitcoin mining

If you aren't going to upgrade to an asic machine you will only be able to mine alt coins with your GPUS  which can still be profitable.
Just scroll down the main page a bit and read up on the alt coin mining section

(firstly, sorry if this is i the wrong thread, it wouldn't let me post anywhere else for some reason).

Hi all,
So I'm aware I'm a little late to the party on this but thought I'd have a crack at this bitcoin mining.

I keep reading that it's just no longer possible on a desktop PC, however unfortunately this is all I have access to.

Electricity isn't an issue and neither is getting my hands on hardware, so my question is, even with a top notch GPU e.g. Nvidia GeForce  GTX 1080
and leaving it to run 24/7 am I still looking at making any profit at all?

If need be I can have 2/3 desktops running, all with decent GPU's and running nothing but bitminter.

Please feel free to throw any advice my way, bearing in mind I'm quite technically minded but a newbie to the bitmining community.

Thanks.
Jay
