The question is, just how difficult will it be for him to cash out?

The word is he already cashed out, at least a big part... straight to MtGox lol

Can you quote a source please? I'm trying to follow this story, but all I'm getting are vague claims based on nothing. Thank you very much Smiley

If you really wanted to follow this story you would go to the place where it happened and read about it there instead of staying here asking questions.

That was what I did when I wanted to know more. Not going to quote or link anything here, that's for sure, but I know what I read in a thread where someone is following some of the scammer bitcoin addresses, and that was that he sent some thousands of coins to MtGox.

And how much would that respected individual have taken with?

I've read $100,00.00 of BTC was quoted but I doubt it.

wow! I doubt it was that much but I don't know about that site so who knows.... that's crazy though.... this would be one of the largest btc scam ever!

I heard from someone that read that a well known SR seller called "tony" was getting out of the game and decided to rip everyone off by using his well known status as a good seller.

Has anybody heard about that 'massive' Silk Road scam cited here?

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/how-stable-is-the-value-of-bitcoin-79880

A couple weeks ago, blockchain.info had an extended outage, GLBSE went down for a while, MtGox announced they weren't doing wires for a week, and there was a massive Silk Road scam. With all that, not much happened with the price. Does that predict the future? Maybe, to some debatable degree, but it's simply impossible to know..
