I own two 1BTC coins. My reasoning: well, I'm not entirely sure. Apart from the fact it is pretty neat to own one, and pretty to look at; they may one day be worth something, and it is, kind of, a risk free investment: you get the initial 1BTC back and a coin for just under a dollar/pound or so.

Also, it's makes for a portable, but risky is lost/stolen, savings 'account'.

I'm currently looking to buy a 10BTC silver coin. You invest in BTC and silver in one go.

Are you doing it for the novelty of it, or are you doing it out of the idea that it will be worth a lot more in the future?

Personally I think it would be pretty neat to own one.

Has anyone ever gotten a really good deal on one before? Also, what about paper notes?
