i have a dream, i live at bitcoin city
where i can buy and sell something with bitcoin only

and does not use pair with usd

like i buy a burger with 0.0075BTC and the price will be fixed without thinking of bitcoin rate

Well. There wont be a Bitcoin city where price is fixed in our lifetime. However, there will be country that fully support the currency Bitcoin - http://www.newsbtc.com/2015/04/19/liberland-chooses-bitcoin-national-currency/.

Thanks for sharing those posts, very helpful. There's still a long way to go before bitcoin is widely accepted in the whole world. But some countries or areas are one step ahead.

About a year ago I was stuck in a country with my wallet stolen. I hooked up with a guy on Localbitcoin and I sold a few bitcoins for fiat. I was able to survive for a couple of days on fiat I converted from the BTC.

The flight back to my country was booken with Bitcoin, so I had no problem getting back.
Unfortunately the country I visited, did not have a lot of places that accepted Bitcoin as a payment method, so I was stuck with fiat for the rest of the time.

I have to say without BTC my stay there would have been terrible. When I got home, I hugged my Trezor.

That's great to hear, I haven't lived only on bitcoins for a period, no doubt I  booked my tickets with bitcoins but I was not able to book my hotel with the use of bitcoins, So I had to convert my btc to that local currency for my living, and I was very much surprised that no one was aware about bitcoins in that country, but thanks to localbitcoins where I found a guy and converted my coins to fiat.

It doesn't work like that here as there aren't much places I can spend my coins beside a few bars. Perhaps If I offer several stores to set up everything and convince them to accept it as optional payment method, then it might actually work. It's risk free as they get everything paid out in fiat by services such as BitPay. There isn't a reason to not accept Bitcoin in any store.

I successfully lived on bitcoins. I changed my life, and hopefully have provided some insight into how this technology works in the real world. Spoiler alert: sometimes it’s like magic.

not so bad yes? Wink

I guess it depends on how you look at it.

Some will say that using a bitcoin debit card is not using bitcoin but I do not agree. With cards like Xapo and Bit-x any charges to the card comes directly of your bitcoin balance in the respective wallet. So there is no real difference between using a wallet to make the transfer and or using your debit card. The card is actually much easier.

Other cards, where you need to sell bitcoin for fiat and then deposit onto the card I'll agree is not using bitcoin.

So if you consider the use of above mentioned cards as a bitcoin transaction then its very easy to live just off bitcoin as the card is accepted anywhere a normal card is accepted so it should be pretty easy to do everything in bitcoin.

I too have a dream like that... I like to think there's a bright future and that Bitcoin is a huge part of it. Self driving cars, 100% alternative energy and Bitcoin are what I imagine. I guess we'll have to wait and see  Wink

Can you imagine living your life only on bitcoin? How long have you tried to live only on bitcoin?
Someone has planned his vacation using just bitcoin, from flight and hotel booking to eating at a restaurant.

Flight and hotel are simple. And Bitcoin makes it easy to find a localbitcoins person in the country you're visiting so you can get the local currency. For now there are only usually one or 2 restaurants in most cities I've been to that accept Bitcoin so I hit those and pay local currency for the rest. Transportation from the airport requires currency. Last time I was in Poland I arrived at the airport, bought a phone card with euros. Received change in Zlotis, enough to pay for a bus ticket to the hotel where someone from localbitcoins met me in the lobby. Gave me a price very close to the exchange rate surprisingly.

There's this guy who's traveling around the world on Bitcoin (similar as me where he tries to pay for everything with bitcoins but if he can't he uses local currency purchased through localbitcoins).
