While I was writing another post, I visited bitcoin.com and noticed a change on their website. When you click on the Buy Bitcoin button now, the site doesn't try to trick the users into purchasing Bitcoin Cash instead of Bitcoin. It automatically selects Bitcoin as the asset you are trying to purchase. If you want Bitcoin Cash, you have to manually find it on the list.

They also changed the names of the coins. In the past, Bitcoin was referred to as Bitcoin Core, and Bitcoin Cash was either just Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash.
What caused this change of heart? I doubt it's the good nature of the site owner?
Simply the owner do able to realize up things and even he would try to deceive out the masses but still it would be useless because instead on getting support he would rather
get some criticisms instead and that would heavily affecting his reputation and same goes to the website that he made up.It would really be good to look like this on where
they shouldnt really mislead out people and present the truth and bcash would always be a forked coin and never would be treated up as bitcoin itself.
No matter how hard they do try they will surely or definitely fail.

BCH hasn't been noticeable during this bull run and for them to cope up with the bull run, if someone is really interested in bitcoin, they don't have to do the trick.

And just like any other company that rides the bull run which is favorable for bitcoin, they have to do it on their own for them to still be on the line. No one would want to buy BCH at these times that doesn't have seen significant pump unlike the other altcoins and bitcoin.

They're no longer the first-go to by the newbies. If a newbie wants to buy bitcoin, they're likely going to Binance or Coinbase instead of their website.

They realized that their dirty technique needs to be changed, because no matter what, people are looking first for bitcoin and not their bitcoin cash. It is about time to be honest. Because if in case people will give them bad review because of their deception, they will lose customers. And so the repercussion is still on them. People are not dumb anymore, they already learn their lessons because of so many scam sites. No matter what they do, they are just forked from bitcoin. And people are mostly after for bitcoin these days.

Bcash has gone down significantly over the years, it's clear that it's not popular and at some point will just disappear. So, it's not profitable to try to trick newbies into buying it when you can just sell Bitcoin and get more profit. Also, as Bitcoin gets more popular and governments pay more attention to it, there's a higher chance that scams like these will be taken seriously and fully prosecuted.

Farewell, Leo. You will be missed!
Yes, it seems it was updated over a week ago, based on the updated time on their support page

https://support.bitcoin.com/en/articles/4079408-how-do-i-buy-bitcoin
Does anyone remember what that support article looked like before? I checked web achieves and found a snapshot from August 2020. According to the snapshot, they used the correct names back in August as well.

It says:
Bitcoin demand is high with high opportunity every bitcoin holders could have depending on how he mananged the bitcoin holdings. Since big company owners such as tesla are now into bitcoin many people had follow too. As we can see the bitcoin market is relatively big meaning more and more people believing in bitcoin.
Because of that demand and increased interest from investors, it's the perfect opportunity for people like those operating bitcoin.com to try and trick more people into buying the wrong coin. Don't you think?

Crypto enthusiast has caught up with them, people getting smarter, and perhaps this is due to people around the community who have been calling out their scams for many years. And perhaps that site is also losing traffic as people tend to look for more reputable site to buy the real BTC. He still promotes his BCH in his twitter though and still using BTC's name

I think so.

Now they are presenting the BCH as Bitcoin/Ethereum cheap (on fees) alternatives for everyday transactions, etc.

Neither way, BCH will stay behind.

I do not think Roger Ver is trying to be a good man, all he wanted is for a coin called bitcoin cash to fork out of bitcoin, trying all his best to make sure it surpass bitcoin, so people will call it bitcoin while bitcoin will not be known as the real bitcoin again, but his plans did not just work, he got not option again than to just change his lies because his planes did not work.

He can't just become a good man after everything he's done over the years, even if some things have changed on the website he controls. The damage he did during that period is certainly great, and it can't be repaired overnight, although I'm sure people will forget very quickly and pretend it didn't even happen.

As far as I am concerned he is a scammer and everything he represents should be avoided in any way. BitcoinCash is not the first attempt by Roger Ver to try to impose a new and better Bitcoin, and it may not be the last.

It just doesn't work that easy to scam so many people and it likely gets less probable to find new victims the more your scam is running. Roger probably found out the BCH community is already larger than he imagined it'd be and so he had to pull back and allow BTC to be placed in front once again.

At the end of the day, people are looking on his site for the real BTC. He's losing a substantial amount of visitors and potential customers he could've made a fortune out of, without having to deceive anybody.

They might've hit their head and realized that they have to stop pretending that Bitcoin cash will be the same as bitcoin or they got tired of tricking people into buying the bad bitcoin clone in the end we can only speculate as to what was the real reason behind the change of heart of Bitcoin.com, either way it is a good thing that they are back to bitcoin as it should have been in the first place.

I wonder whether the reason behind it could be Bitcoin's increasing popularity and demand. I don't even know why they were promoting Bitcoin Cash so much. There have been many people also who think BCH is a scam. Maybe they tried to improve its image.

Misinformation and misrepresentation only worked in the early days of Bitcoin Cash, now an army of Bitcoin (BTC) supporters have worked hard to get the correct information out there... so less people fall for that now.

The situation with Bitcoin Cash is similar to what happens with Ponzi schemes... in the early days almost nobody know about it and a lot of gullible people fall for the scam..... then more and more people burn their fingers and they tell other people and over a long period a lot less people burn their fingers..because they recognize it as a scam.    Wink

They scammed a lot of newbies and made some money that way but also they ended up losing a lot of revenue since bitcoin.com is now being considered as a scam website that we always warn everyone to stay away from.
Now they are just trying to get back their market share and increase their revenue but I think the damage is done since it is not easy or in this case possible to build the already ruined reputation they have.

I guess the people nowadays are serious in buying bitcoin and not bitcoin cash. The demand for bitcoin is high so if I were owning an exchange I probably highlight bitcoin in the list of crypto into the exchange.  Bitcoin cash might confused bitcoiners but people nowadays are smart by taking precaution in every bitcoin to purchase.
I don't think so, there're some victim who still buy fake Bitcoin (Bitcoin Cash) on Bitcoin.com before [1] [2] Even though it's only few example I can provide below, I believe many newcomer has been tricked outside in this forum.

As bitcoiners, this is what we really wanted to get bitcoin exposure throughout the world and let the world know how the decentralized currency works. I myself can also somehow being proud of this creation though this is not my idea but it has a very nice features contradicting the current currency system and making a balance.

Bitcoin is still developing and growing basing on the percentage of the population in which the currency they use. Bitcoin can still increase up to 1000% or more in the current status of people using bitcoin.

I can only speculate,

1. That after 4 years, they realized that they can't no longer trick people of buying BCH in their website by claiming it's the real BTC. Just look at where they are sitting right now, outside of the top 10 coins.
2. Roger Ver trying to be the good guy again.
3. If you can't beat them, join them attitude now.
4. Roger Ver expects some stimulus package will go to BCH.  Grin

What caused this change of heart? I doubt it's the good nature of the site owner?
What I think is that the site can not just yet be trusted as they have long time be misleading people into thinking they are purchasing bitcoin, not knowing it is bitcoin cash. There can still be a change of mind especially during bull run to change it back to such in a way people will think it is bitcoin but not knowing it is bitcoin cash, I believe this can be done later in the future or during bull run.

What I think will cause the recent changes of heart is that they have came into thinking it is not working for them, or not working for them anymore. Before, during bull run, we see how bitcoin cash do move and rise, but it all changed after 2020 halving. I remembered bitcoin cash to be the 4th highest rank for long time until 2020, and now at 11th position, and possibly new coins may still surpass it. So, this could make bitcoin cash CEO to thinking that is not working for them anymore, or that people are getting to know they are using it to mislead people and people not trusting them again, and decide to remove it.

But, yet, we should not still trust bitcoin.com, why their site not also bitcoincash.com? All to just find ways to mislead people and misrepresent bitcoin for their coin.
