I wouldn't say artificially, because that seems to imply intention. And I don't think that the altcoin scene as a whole is solely created to inflate bitcoin.
It is, however, created as (or has become) a way to make money. And since most trades flow through BTC, it pumps BTC.

My thoughts exactly, this is how a true market works. Demand goes up whenever people want to purchase any new altcoin.

Interesting thought.  I agree with the above comments.  Definitely moving the price but not artificially.  This is showing demand and each are growing.

One world One currency, Bitcoin.
Most of the alts are made to earn few BTC and fly away Smiley.
Everything needs a competitor, Alts are they. Without them there shouldn't have been such hype in the community.

Waaat?  Altcoins might be priced in satoshi but they could just as easily be priced in USD or any other currency.  Unless I'm totally missing something here altcoins can function perfectly fine independently of bitcoin.  Right?

They could, but at the moment, they're not.

Is there an exchange that uses it's own coin as a main medium?

In a way, you could say that the altcoin market is a decentralized ponzi scheme. kinda funny.

Has the Altcoin markets become a way to Artificially Inflate the Price of Bitcoin?
Every New Alt coin requires a % of BTC be used even at 1 sat, increases demand for BTC, (Decrease Supply & Increase Demand /$Price)

Making a new thought , some say without BTC the alt Markets crash
(Doubtful as most alts would switch to LTC as their market pair without missing a beat)

But if the Alt Coins Vanished , would BTC even be worth $20?

Opinions?

 Cool

I believe that the Altcoin market has Artificially increased the price of BTC.

Think about it this way, if BTC were to become obsolete, people would resort to utilizing other popular crypto-currencies in order to join the bandwagon on other ICO/IPOs. The beauty in crypto-currencies is anonymity, people don't want to join ICOs with Credit or Debit Cards because of major security risks. Therefore they'd resort to using other major cryptos, thus increasing the value of that certain crypto-currency.

Another note: I would not call it an artificial increase, as this is just how a market works.
