I don't understand why there would be a lack of interest. If Bitcoin needs something before hitting mainstream is privacy.

People are interested, not interested enough to fund the project. DarkWallet is a "nice to have" thing but not a necessity. There are other low cost alternatives to achieve more or less the same, like sending coins to exchanges and it is almost untraceable.

Their absence has been discussed around here a few weeks ago. As far as I could gather there is a mix of lack of interest and short funding for the project... which probably led to a lack of motivation.

They'll probably be back soon anyways, or someone will take it from where they left Smiley
I don't understand why there would be a lack of interest. If Bitcoin needs something before hitting mainstream is privacy. If people took privacy more serious when they were designing the TCP/IP protocols we wouldn't be in the NSA type mess we are at today and all those big problems could have been avoided. We need more than pseudoanonimity before Bitcoin makes it beyond the geek/VC money circles.

Partly agree. More privacy would be cool, but not a necessity for many people, me included Smiley More privacy sometimes means extra means to achieve it, and some people aren't willing to go further than their current privacy procedures.

I don't mind if people search all my addresses, they won't find anything compromising Cheesy Definitely not using a different wallet just to be more hidden from public eye. That's why there is a lack of interest... from the 100% of Bitcoin users, the interest is only huge in 10%... The rest doesn't has such a big interest or they simply don't want/need DarkWallet.

I had been watching the Darkwallet project as it was a very interesting solution for anon in Bitcoin.  And for a while there was a lot of activity there and things were progressing fast, but now it seems much slower or stopped.  Does anybody have an update.  Their website is up, but Github shows a drop in activity.  https://github.com/darkwallet/darkwallet/releases   https://www.darkwallet.is/

Nah it's not really that dead , I just checked their website then went to their twitter . Their twitter account seem to be pretty actif and fine , also they posted on March that they still need some funding so the project is still ON and going it's just problem of money like every problem on this world  Roll Eyes
They seem to need more 25% because they are at 75% = > 98.50077818 of 131 BTC received [ https://www.darkwallet.is/donate/ ]
I personally think we should make a thread here to help the Darkwallet & make people donate to them ,don't you think ?

okay, thanks for the update.

It is open source, so somebody can pick it up.

It is the type of thing that would be great for Bitcoin, but nobody will get rich of it, at least not like the guys that are making anon alt coins and pumping them as the next big thing.

that is one thing about Bitcoin is that a darkwallet would be a good project, yet nobody is really going to fund it as there is no way to get your money back.

the best hope is that some dark market is making a ton of money selling weed and then uses some of their cash to fund a darkwallet project.
