I have been in here from December of 2017. This means I had never experienced a complete bear market before. So I want to ask the veterans: Has the dip passed? What is your opinion of it?

Not sure what you understands as a dip. Thee is bottom. That happened in December. We had long 5 months from November to May when you were able to buy cheap Bitcoins.  Yes those months are behind us. From now on yes you might still be able to get cheap Bitcoins but at rare chances. Maybe hope someone will have fat fingers on exchange and crash price but you need to have active buy orders for that.  But this dont mean Bitcoin is not worth to buy anymore. It is since price in two years time should at least at some point breach $100k.  So buy buy buy whenever you can, no matter that you buy at higher price then $5000.

I believe the price is still going really high, today it reached close to 10k finally and we haven't been here for a long long time, it is really not that hard to say that the dip has passed for sure.

I do not even think that 7.8k is possible anymore for a long time, we can hit the historically 11.5k resistance very soon, I know it will be a challenge but the day you see bitcoin at 11.6k (or maybe even a big higher) know that not only the dip has passed but we are also going for a huge skyrocketing price surge and the all time high will be in our grasps very soon. It may take some time but right now it looks like it will be quick.

I would suggest everyone to get as much bitcoin as they can but I do not like to give these types of advises on the chance of not being right.

With cryptocurrency it isn't possible to predict the next move of bitcoin. The market can move anytime forward or backward, the price dip happens quite often. The price fluctuation happens regularly, and in recent days there isn't much of bearish move. Possible this time it seems to reach $10000 before the month end. If it isn't attained we can reach $10000 after a price correction which might get initiated within few days.

If you are talking about last year's prolonged market dip, I think it's over now because bitcoin is already on uptrend since the start of this year. But short dips will still happen even in the bullish market because the price needs to correct after an uptrend and it can't be avoided because itis part of the price cycle. At present, bitcoin is still going up and expected to reach $10k soon before it will go on dip temporarily.

A dip is a small decrease in the price what we experimented at the end of 2017 and at the beginning of 2018 was a crash and then a bear market where investors lost confidence and many abandoned the market, I think it is safe to say that we have left the bear market behind, not only the price has gone up significantly, during the last 20 weeks 15 of them have been positive with only 5 being negative and of all of those negative weeks only one presented significant losses to the market and since then we have recovered all the lost ground.

At the moment it seems that we overcome dip but that still doesn't mean that the price will further grow only. Corrections are possible at any time and actually I wouldn't call recent lower price a dip but smaller correction.
Although it looks like price is heading towards 10000$ be prepared for this not to happen and price might gow to 8000$ or even lower again.

Yes, every market has to experienced corrections, there is no market that will go on a parabolic rise. Currently we have seen the market going down, about 1%, not that big amount but still the mental barrier of $9000 is too much and speculators tend to sell at this point. As far as $10,000, we will see, this correction might ended up around the $8500 price again so we will back to where we previously started prior to the growth above $9000.

Depends on what we mean by the dip, there are many dips in the crypto as of right now, the 3k times were a dip, the 6k times were a dip and most recently 8k was a dip. Now you may think that we are at 9 thousand dollars right now so the 8 thousand dollars should not be a dip but honestly whenever we drop thats the price we hit and will we ever see those numbers again is a valid question and the answer is we probably will.

However, the other ones are different, will we go under 7k ever again? I am not sure, is there a possibility? Yes but does that mean we will? No. I think thats a unlikely but probable number. However those 3k times are looong gone, if you ask me we will never hit those numbers ever again, it will be way too long to fall from all the way here to there.

Indeed. The sharper the increase the sharper the downfall.
I think that the dip has passed at least for this year but I am carefu because of a sudden decrease in the price.

Everyone has to be careful, that's how we treat our investment due to its risk, I think last year gave us a lot of lesson and we will be pretty mature this time facing the possible same scenario.

Though the market tells the dip is over but it can come anytime soon! Because bitcoin needed to touch the under 3K USD but it didn't! Though those were prediction but still I can't be sure that the dip is over. Bitcoin price went to 9K USD through months, and it can go down to 6K USD within 15 days. So, it is better to play safe!

Who said that, needed? I don't think so, that is your opinion, we dipped already and we will never go below 3K again, don't miss the chance to still buy bitcoin if haven't bought yet as this will once again might go to the moon, we are about to go double digit this year, we need 1K usd, then boom!

Yes.
I want to know too where he got that idea. Let me have the name to search it if it an analyst or just one guy that predicts the bitcoin price.
Somehow if he is known then I could unfollow him or block anything that relates to him so that I wont see that kind of idea.

That is way too much pessimistic view. 3k USD? It may be impossible by now to be dumped at that number again.
Last month 6k was my deepest analysis but it didnt happen which is good. Now, it is just 7k which could be the deepest it could get or maybe 7500.

If you have been here since Dec. 2017, you’ve probably heard and witnessed partly when it was in its highest value and after that from beginning of 2018 till lately this year (not talking about 2-3 months ago), you might have known how it went down dramatically until it is little by little gaining its recovery lately, so you cannot really say that you haven’t experienced bear market.

Well, we are witnessing how the market surpassed and totally recover  in a gradual way. Thus it break out the desiring peak which motivate  people to specualte it bountuful outcome will difiitely occur in the near future. And I am hopeful that it will contunue to grow persistently.

I'm proud I witness that and I'm proud I did not panic though I have a small regret.
I've witnessed a long bear market, most of it happen in 2018 and that teaches me a lesson to hold and not to be greedy because market will recover and we will definitely see a new high that is not brought by hype only in the market, and I believe the the uptrend started already this year.

As what others say the dip has "maybe" pass, but dont feel confident just because we are seeing bitcoin rose up from the bottom of the bear market to where is it right now,the dip maybe has passed but may comeback in anytime bitcoin may slide down again were not sure untill it happen but hopefuly its not gonna happen

Yes, we can't fully determined if the bottom is through or this is just the beginning of the downfall. We can see the market is hard to reach $8k, though it is $8k now but we can never predict if where the market is leading it's way to. The only hope we can hold on to is fot the market to finally go up. Sure thing the halving event but it is next year so this time, only waiting for the good news.

After every bull run, there is always a dip that will follow but looking at the price chart of Bitcoin it seems that Bitcoin already passed the dip and is now heading to the bull run again. Although it takes almost a year to actually see the bullish market while we are under in a bearish for a longer period of time.
We cant really say that the dip had passed yet anytime the price can crash on where it was before.

We have seen how many times of these kind of scenarios where we do pump then dump for a short period of time.
So we cant basically tell on what would be the price would be considered as dip.
Pump and dump are rarely happen in bitcoin price even for several years when bitcoin price reach an ATH the pump and dump scheme are not happened. The price crash was affected by some information and the sentiment market itself. I haven't found the decreased price came when there is no negative information. The pump and dump scheme only happen on altcoin market which is the price still low and many centraliezed coin out there.

It seems the crypto market is not in bear condition anymore. So, we can say that the dip has passed! But no one can ensure you about it.

That depends on what level you consider a confirmation of a bear market that has ended. For some people that may have been the $6400 level, but for others that might very well be the psychological $10,000 level. If you're very strict, you could even say that the $9000 wick might have even been a lower longer term high, so as you can see, it's a very subjective matter.

To counter the above, you can also look at the all time charts where each year represents a candle, and there you can see what we never really had a bear market. In other words, you can make charts look as bearish or as bullish as you want them to be by playing with different time frames.

Because when BTC price went to 7500 USD from the 9100 USD, we thought the price may keep falling down! Where the price starts growing again! It's a little bit confusing for me!
Don't get confuse with this short term movement, it's good seeing it moving sideways, but never loss the optimism on Bitcoin.
As I wake up today, I was happy seeing the price back to $8100 again, we've been not this range for weeks I guess but good thing now it started to climb the ladder again, bitcoin has to break its high this year and maybe we can welcome BTC at $10,000 soon.

Nobody could answer that for sure, the situation now has cooling down maybe the dip has passed, but this is a decentralised world, every thing move in high speed and the market can shift really quick, but for me the price already stabilise so I consider the dip already passed

And don't forget that a dip doesn't mean that it is a deep for another investor.
It depends on the date that they joined the market and the ROI that they have faced till the time that the "dip" occurs.

I wouldn't say that this was actually dip but it was correction. They are part of Bitcoin volatility and it's normal for them to happen. Although the price ihas moved forward again that doesn't mean that another correction wouldn't happen. Anyway, I think that price will continue to fluctuate going back and forth so don't be surprised with another correction.

OP's title is misleading, he is talking about the year+ long bear market not an actual "dip" since  dips are usually small and short term. so we can call them corrections but the bear market is something more than just a correction it is mostly like an "over-correction" thanks to the extreme drops.
Indeed, even today I don't call it a dip, even though prices go down but it's only a correction. and dip is not the right word to describe it, prices don't go down repeatedly like in bearish right? and in my opinion the price will bouncing and rising, it only takes time to make investors re-buy

As far as i know. The dip started when the value of bitcoin reached $4K and since then upto present, it gained almost 200%. But with this achievement, we shouldnt be confident because it has the possibility of dropping again from that digit any moment from now. No one knows how the price changes so lets all become aware of this fact.

As on what we can see in the market now I think we are passed the dip right now and no one can say when it will dip again because some of cryptocians are looking forward for bull run this year or maybe next year.
If we look at the sentiment market now that's true the market still showing to increase. But we should never underestimate the crash that will occur, I still remember at the end of 2017. When many people speculate that bitcoin prices will rise again in 2018 and some even say the price will exceed $ 50,000, so many people believe that. As you already know the price of bitcoin falls deeper and makes many investors sell it at a loss. This is a lesson for this early bull run in 2019, keep playing safe and take as much profit as you can.

I think dip already passed. Actually i am not people that actually understand dip. But with long time price when low(for me) and it keep stable, now price pumped like this maybe is already start to different trend.
You can only understand the dip if you have been in this market for long and you have been following the price action indicators. The candlestick pattern do also reveal an end to a long-term assets direction and that is why the chinese traders depend on it the most in forex and commodities trading. However, the bullish trend that started in April signal an end to a long-term bearish market that started in December 2017 but the dip ended in February 2019 when bitcoin make double point in a daily chart. I point this out then though I cannot locate the thread again. Therefore study to become expert and your eyes will be fining the dip when it is time.

Yeah, and it will never come back again.
You are in good timing as you are here in December, price of bitcoin that time was around over $3K only, so that means you are in profit now.

Don't think of the fall anymore as I believe we are due for a rise this year, we have dipped and put that in your mind and believe on it so you will not panic once there's some price dump happening soon. Keep holding and be strong until you reach the price based on your goal.

I don't get it how did someone who has been around since December 2017 never really seen a complete bull run? I mean we have been at 20k during December 2017 and then we went as low as 3200 and then we are at around 8 thousand dollars right now. How is that never really seen a complete bull, you have been around perfectly for the full cycle of a bear run.

Every single thing that has transpired since December 2017 and today must have shown you what the true bear run looks like and you should basically memorize every single detail of it because it has happened before and it will surely happen again so next time around you will now it. I have seen the previous ones so I was lucky to cash out during 20k dollar times but I was also stupid enough to buy around 6.5k last time yet I feel fine now since I bought more lower and now we are higher.

what? are you saying a drop from ~$20k (dec2017) to ~$7k (feb2018) doesn't count as bear market?
then continuously dropping bit by bit down to ~$4k in nov2018 Sad and as low as ~$3k a few months ago

Has the dip passed? What is your opinion of it?
I'm not sure, but I can see it starts rising back up again in early last april
I believe we're in bullish market now, I just hope I can see another low one more time to buy lots of btc Tongue

You never saw a deep after December 2017?
It just happened after that.
Actually it is a great dip.

Regarding the price now we can see it is in good condition but I wont assume too much.
Better get ready and monitor daily if you are trading. There is no assurance that it will keep on pumping or stay at its price. A fall can happen anytime.

We gained how many thousand of bucks already from the bottom. The dip has passed but then who knows even in time like this btc could crash. There are corrections along the way but I guess with those gains, it's safe to say we got out but for me not completely until we break $10k. Anyways, it's just around the corner, only the correction giving it a hard time.

Here's the spoiler: it doesn't matter what we think. And here's the following spoiler: it also doesn't matter if the dip's passed or not.

End game is accumulation, holding and widening that timeframe in your mind's eye to periods of years. Not months, not weeks, certainly not days. Those who have been around know this, whether or not they're telling you.

You want to day trade and scalp? x100 in a few short weeks? Bitcoin's actually really not for you.

This is so true. There was a thread where people were showing how much Bitcoin was worth in every year since it was created and there wasn't even one negative year where lows were lower than lows in the year before.

The lows of last year were at 3200 so if you bought somewhere near that level you are safe. in 9 years of its existence bitcoin never went lower than a year before so it's a great store of value if you aren't afraid of holding it.

Yes,we have seen a very long bearish market and its good to see now that the market is slowly recovering up and instead of waiting for the price increase
you can actually make utilize of the current up and down of price in the market.

I guess the dip is over. The bears left the market and they made it months ago. The recent fall of the cryptocurrencies was not felt by most crypto holders: it was short. We can wait for the next market growth.

Here's the spoiler: it doesn't matter what we think.

It doesn't matter in the long run but it certainly matters for those of us traders trying to read market sentiment. You may have noticed there is a belief among most traders that "when everyone agrees on something, the opposite usually occurs."

So it pays to recognize when everyone seems bullish, or vice versa.

You want to day trade and scalp? x100 in a few short weeks? Bitcoin's actually really not for you.

100x in a few weeks? Of course not, but Bitcoin is pretty awesome for day trading and scalping. I basically stopped trading stocks and commodities when Bitcoin came along.

I'm still looking for a negative move down to at least 6000 area or so, that sounds negative but overall long term its better for the price to pull back in that way and then continue a rise to 10k or whatever bullish target might have.

If by dip you mean are we likely to make new lows, I think its realised to be alot less likely.  However I would also say nobody is ever certain till its a long way in the rear view mirror.

Heres why I'm thinking negative right this moment.   THe top prices heading into friday close is hitting the bottom of the previous upward channel, so we are outside that regular up move.   I would have tried short but I know alot of open trades of that sort hold off outside business hours which means we wait till sunday night to resume full trade and theres some positive bias over a weekend.

I'm not in a rush and I think market is not going to rush upwards in 2019 but I could have the time scale wrong and 'this is it'

The way you word it im not sure if OP means the bear market of 2018 or the dip this week.

If you're talking about the 2018 bear market, yes thats been over for quite a while, either 2+ months or half a year depending in how you define it.

If you're talking about this week's correction, that's impossible to know. It looks like the dip petered out at 7400 and is in the process of recovering now, but i wouldnt be totally surprised to see this correction last a bit longer because the gains from May were parabolic and made the chart look very unhealthy and in need of a correction and leveling out for a while. I would think it will need some time before pushing the price to new ground again.

I have been in here from December of 2017. This means I had never experienced a complete bear market before. So I want to ask the veterans: Has the dip passed? What is your opinion of it?
As what others say the dip has "maybe" pass, but dont feel confident just because we are seeing bitcoin rose up from the bottom of the bear market to where is it right now,the dip maybe has passed but may comeback in anytime bitcoin may slide down again were not sure untill it happen but hopefuly its not gonna happen

Yes maybe the decline has passed but for the market conditions in my opinion it is still bearish. But so far the market is heading towards a bullish direction, this is only speculation so we cannot expect much. But many also think that the market conditions are still under correction, so we have to wait for the correction to end and then determine the open position.

I don't think that this will be the last dip we'll see within this bull market.

Short term corrections like this is extremely common, and should not be something that is unexpected. When you see value of BTC constantly rising due to the fomo that exists within the market, you'll realize that it is simply unsustainable and an adjustment in the terms of price will come sooner or later.

I think that currently, $8k is still a level that has some resistance, though I fully expect that to be breached within a week given how bullish the sentiment has become. I think we're still in the smart money phase before the actual mainstream catches on at this point, because there is still a general fear of the market in mainstream due to people like you that got introduced to the market in late 2017.

I can say one thing for sure - we are not gonig to see BTC below 4 k again in long time possibly for decades.
I believe that we can retest 6k but that is as low as we are going to go.
There are still some bears saying that we need a retest of the $31xx bottom before we can rocket up again, but I'm sure that they only hope that it will happen because they missed the opportunity of buying there while they had the chance.

The interesting part about the current run is that each time the market looks like it's about to crash, it goes back up again. I'm glad that I am currently only hodling because trading this run seems pretty dicey to me.

I did some paper trading to see if my trades would be successful, but nope, turns out it was a great decision to not trade for real. Paper trading is a good way to put your understanding of TA to work. If it's shit it won't cost you penny.  Smiley

There is no definite answer for that except that we have to wait for some days. In case bitcoin will start moving beyond $8,000 then we can say that the dip is waning. Bitcoin is right now hovering at $7,900+ which can be an attractive entrance for people planning to join the bandwagon. I am just hopeful that the bullish mode will eventually prevail here.
I just checked my wallet at blockchain.info and bitcoin has made some gain today and it is currently around $8039. I will joined those that said bitcoin has recovered and the current happenings is corrections and resetting. This is very normal in every market setting because it cannot continuously going up and likewise going down.

I am not a veteran but I think that every day we have a new dip. If you want to make profits you can buy once a week a portion of Bitcoin for the price given. In the end you will have a profit as you are going to buy all the dips.

You were one of the unlucky few that entered the Bitcoin scene when the price was at it's highest, so you most probably are waiting for the price to go back to that ATH price to exit the scene again.

Your wish might be closer than you think, because the bear market has only started and the correction phase usually last about 3 years, if you look at the Bitcoin price history.   Wink

The dip may got passed already but always expect for it to come back again sooner or later. Having fluctuation in crypto is normal, bullish and bearish have always got positive effect, buy at bearish market and sell in bullish to have a profit is an example.

But the dip still happens until now because many coins have down again after bitcoin gets down too. But right now, all coins seems to want to increase back to the higher price although we still need to wait for a while. I guess that the price will change again in the next week so we can hope that the price can increase in the higher price.

If you are in the bitcoin speculative market since December 2017 then if you experienced the bearish trend, that is, you were completely in the bearish stage, but maybe as it happened so fast you did not notice, and the bearish trend happened when the price fell from $ 20ka $ 6k, at $ 6k it marked the Accumulation range, from there it dropped almost to $ 3k, but the range was marked from $ 6k to $ 11.5k. Based on Wyckoff's philosophy, this is my way of analyzing it, and how many Wyckoff followers would do it.

Although its very hard to predict future price of any coin but still based on some market analysis it can be said that dip has passed and we can see a next bull run soon which has started silently. If someone is opting an investment at this stage it should be done with proper money management, SL should be at the right place rather not only in this phase but everytime a proper money management should be follow before investing your hard earned money. Market is always traded on analysis and assumption there is nothing sure shot here.

Has the dip passed?

maybe

What is your opinion of it?

until a few months ago the price was in the $ 3300 and the opinions of the people was very terrible, there was a lot of pessimism and lack of hope... But after the price has increased a lot and in a little time, brought the optimism and the confidence that one day will see again high prices as of  $19000

i think we are due for a big correction before we start the real climb it would not suprise me if we see levels of 6k again before going over 10k.

I hope the price does not fall to  $6000

In my own opinion , the deep is over, the bottom has been hit and we are now on an uptrend. There are lots of indications that points to the end of the bear and the beginning of a gradual but continuous uptrend. Another thing that has help in the price revival is the numerous adoption of blockchain by some top establishment such as Facebook, telegram just to mention a few. We will be in for a nice drive but nonetheless you can trade and hold with stop loss if u hold on exchanges medium term.

The previous price crash is probably another lower high, a retracement or correction after a surge is really bound to happen.  It will happen because those who bought Bitcoin at lower price needs to cash out their profit and also it opens a window for new investors for Bitcoin to rally up again.  If we really are in a Bull run, we can see another higher high meaning probably this next run will bring Bitcoin to 5 digit level,  $10,000 will be breached this time.

I’m not a veteran nor professionals in market but I see that the previous dumped of bitcoin is gone now and yes, we already hit the bottom during that bear trend but it is still possible to see more cheaper price if there’s a new bear. You enter in the market at the right time, i assumue you bought many bitcoin during the dip.

No one knows the future, but I recommend you study technical analysis to make more informed guesses about the market. If you have been here since December 2017, it means you have experienced a full bear market most likely, since the bear market is apparently over. Most technical analysts believe we are in the spring.

Some of the analyst thinks we're going to have another bearish run when the price starts retreating down to $5,400. As we can see from the last 48 hrs. Bitcoin price was gradually pulling back, yet at the time im writing this, the price backs up to $8k again.

i believe so, but technically this can still be a bull trap. to put a number on it, i'm about 80% confident the bottom is in for good and we won't return to last year's lows.

put it this way: we've never seen a monthly bull trend this strong that ended up being a bull trap.

In my own opinion, the dip hasn't gone yet becasue anything can happen regardless of the current situation. There are speculations that, we may see a dip of $6,000 again before another bull run to another ATH in 2019. Is likened unto the days of 2015 , for those who are historians in the world of cryptocurrency.

Market will continue to be volatile, this is the reality with bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. This way there is nothing as perfect bear market and bull market. Everytime the dip gets fulfilled some form of growth. This can be of various factors. At the present same is the scenario, probably the trend lasts for certain time period and further corrections take place respect to the speculations.

No one's sure to say that we've actually passed the dip. No can do if you want guarantee that we're done with the bear market but I admire you for staying despite of all the bad and long bear market that we've experienced you managed to endure it. Many newbies have gone and quit to the market because what they were expecting didn't go according to their plan. We have dipped several times and it has recovered a lot, we may more of it but its safe to say that the current situation is favorable for us.

It seems to have subsided because with it going below $7500 there for a bit about 12 hours ago. The price has recovered and is heading in the right direction once more.

well first of all it was not a dip, it was a correction followed by a crash that lasted over a year creating a very long bear market. "a dip" is what are having right now meaning after going from $6k to $8k now price has come down to $7.5k.

has the bear market ended? yes, ever since price reversed from the bottom at $3k, the bear market had come to an end.

Yes. It has been 6 months already. The dip came and go, I am sorry if you are waiting for another lower low, it is not coming.

Actually it is coming but only after the next all time high. And you know what? The next dip won't be any lower than $20k.

The volatility of the market can't conclude that the dip is over. We all know how unstable the market is and the prices could surprisingly drop down or strike high.
We can say that we're on a better market situation now but let's bear in mind that the dip could occur again anytime.

Ok so you have been here for the past two years so you should know by now that no one can really predict the future price movement. Although there is TA, but it's not enough though as this market is based on pure speculation. So there's no definite answer, all we can do it wait on what the market will do next.
Predicting on future is the hardest part we could deliberate, as no one knows how the market go beyond. We only hold the thoughts of having great bull trend of this year that motivate us to keep positive on speculating an accurate vision basis on the current market phase has shown. Hopefully the market will continue to grow accummulately as it has progressing consistently aroused.
