Old thread is old...or ancient, even...last post almost has its anniversary!  But just to touch on this one as I'm working my through the list:

( Took me a bit to find that, reverse image search yielded nothing; 'bga chip bottom' with an additional yellow color filter was what popped it up right in the first screen of results. )

* What's funny is that that image has rather obvious signs of photoshoppery, and I can't decide if the failed scammers decided to smudge that out to make it less obvious (but thus introducing a different obviousness), or whether both worked from a different image that had a logo and both had to get rid of that somehow.  I'm leaning toward the former.

Sadly I know someone that paid for a unit in the "Batch 4" (talking to random people on a PPCoin pool/site).  Also these machines should have already hit earlier customers yet nothing.  I doubt he is the only one... even if only three people actually sent them money that is a fat stash esp. considering that at most they invested a couple hundred into the site (probably a lot less).

It just amazes me how far these scammers want to go.... their site have been operating for so long..

It didn't take long to track down this photograph in Google images.  Likely the source of their photoshop trickery.

i know where it is but i never paid attention. i got a friend he lives like 5km from the point. ill call tomorrow.

suspicious, its a nursing house but it have game store and some other company..

the company friseurcoach.de is no longer exist at the place so maybe its the place of hashb..? ill call gamestore tomorrow and ask them..


havent found any other DO-Port GmbH companies.. i think its the only one.. because even young companies are registered and can be viewed in germany.

 found the founder of the do-port gmbh http://badoo.com/0245162519/ in 2012 he was 29 now he is 31, im not sure how accurate is the information.

For a Company which exist 2 years and noone knows about, its very trustful!

The accompanying blog-type post says they took delivery of a bunch of hardware...  but these boxes don't look like they've ever seen a shipping truck.  The labels on a couple boxes are barely sticking to the box.  Not to mention the randomness of the shipping label placement.  Anyone that's worked around a shipping department knows this type of randomness doesn't usually happen.

It looks like a bunch of fresh cardboard stacked to convince someone to send them btc for a preorder.

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to follow for "real" companies.

1 TH chips at 0.55 W/GH would be 550 Watt chips...  a tad unlikely to be possible !   Hashfast and Cointerra are hitting the theoretical limits with their 250-300 watt chips.

Its really very sad that the best web sites by far are made by the scammers.   The genuine asic companies seem to have really lame web sites...  based on wordpress and woo commerce.

Why... can't the genuine asic companies start making better web sites!?

In the meantime, at least we can use it as a tool to figure out who the scammers are.  The better the web site, the more likely the scam!

Seriously, don't send money without some kind of proof what they have is real, that goes for any of these pages that pop up out of nowhere without nary a word from their leadership on these boards.

No imprint on the website. For German companies thats mandatory, no info about the do-port gmbh that i can find. I bet its scam.If someone wants to be sure, i can drive to them and check. Just make an attractive offer ;-)

If they plan to ship in Q1/14, they already paid R&D costs.  So basically they don't need to go the pre-order route.
They can just sell the units as in-stock items in Q1.

Unless of course they want to take your coins and disappear.

Why only 800 units? Who runs 2400 ASIC chips run?  I would imagine the runs would be in multiples of 10K...

No they are just taking what little they know and are tweaking the script to make theirs sound enticing.

The page looks pretty because these scammers know what cash they could potentially pull in by blind fools with cash burning a hole in their pocket.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a seasoned serial scammer.

Modus operandi banks once a scammer has found his niche, they just work to perfect their system.

Patter may change a little but it's recognisable.

Maybe they got some "friends" at whatever foundry KNC is using and plan to "borrow" a few wafers, surely a few wont be missed!

You don't know that, the street view image is from 2009. Bitcoins didn't even exist when that image was taken.

Its like 2 hours away from me by car - Lets see how this developes - I also refuse to take the trip because it looks very scammy.

No we don't. We have enough information to safely assume that this is a total SCAM.
I am from Germany, but I certainly won't waste my time taking a trip to a building where no such company resides.

The problem here is that if they were to start to deliver in feb they already managed a tape-out and already paid for the NRE out of pocket for 20nm (what was it KNC mentioned? 10M usd+?)
