Panic selling ?

due to the diff increase , people sell to cut the future losses .

The trading volume of bitcoin has been dropping and this leads to a falling price. Obviously there are huge investments in mining (total hash is presently over 1 Exahash/s) and the product needs to be sold. Now, halfway into this difficulty adjustment period the production is up to over 4000 bitcoins a day (average 3600, based on the average block time of 600 seconds). That´s how it is, they ramp up production after the adjustment, mine like crazy and then maybe turn off some gear towards the end of the adjustment period. Currently I´d be very surprised if some notable mining operations in the west don´t go belly up in the next months. I think they´re fast running out of suckers to help fund their operations.

When will S4's closed? Is it after 10 days of inactivity again?
When will S4 owners can demand their equipment physically?

Demand is a bit of overstatement, you can request to redeem during the redeem period if/when it starts.

Also remember that they will want handling fees, domestic and international shipping fees.

Quote
2.    Users residing in China will be required to pay a handling fee and the cost of domestic shipping. Users residing outside of China will be required to pay a handling fee, the cost of domestic shipping to a port, and the international shipping fee.

3.    Handling fees are set at US$50, and domestic Chinese shipping (including to the export) and international shipping fees will be collected according to the actual charge.

Yeah, they will send a message for that. As far as I know, the conversion is per 2000 gH / 1 S4 unit.

S5 prices are nicely adjusting the cruel reality however S7 hashes keep being brutally overpriced. There will be huge drop in price probably only after people realize that at this speed of difficulty growth the S7 will NOT survive halving.

Well, it is said that modern man suffers from lack of understanding of exponential functions. Doubling time, compounded interest etc.

Yeah it's strange for me.
1 Month ago S5 had around 40% of the cost. Now it's close to 80&

Well, it s obvious after halving nothing will survive besides S7 and even that one will be at close to 90%. So, we need new miners, much more efficient or we need the price to go up big time.

If the 16 nm miner does not come out before halving, then S7 will last long time. 16 nm will kill most miners before it.

Well it all depends on the difficulty and what will happen with the price of bitcoin.
Right now it's really insecure what is going to happen.

the question is how long will they mine with the chip before selling it to people (and at what price).

I see Bitmain is presently shipping batch #9 of S7. Or maybe just about to start, they said Jan. 20-30.

During the Chinese Spring Festival holiday, no shipments will be made from Feb. 4th to Feb 14th. Shipments will resume on Feb. 15th, they say.

I was talking about bitfury, not bitmain.

The public is just cannon fodder in this war. It´s purpose is mainly to help finance the armaments. Most mining is done by huge concerns or so I´d imagine.

The hashrate boom continues. Block generation time is already down to about 550 seconds. It´s ten days to go but the next difficulty increase will probably be between 5 and 10%. It has doubled in the last four months, unbelievable.

When the 16 nm chip comes out in March/April, the difficulty will jump even faster. Too much money is invested in mining.

Of course.

BitFury Will Mass Produce "Fastest and Most Effective" 16nm ASIC Miner Chips

16/12/2015

Bitfury, the best-funded miner through investments has today announced the mass production of its 16nm Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) Chip, a project that was in development since the beginning of 2015.

Bitcoin mining behemoth BitFury has revealed that it will begin mass production of its 16 nm mining chips following testing that has met expectations.

The company revealed 40 gigahash per second design target for the chip, with a power efficiency of 0.06 joules per gigahash, a figure that hasn’t been attained in the industry, yet. The company cites “rigorous testing,” with results for measured power efficiency on average ranging between 0.055 joules per gigahash to 0.07 joules per gigahash. These numbers are also unequalled in the bitcoin mining industry.

With the chip, BitFury deemed the innovation to usher in the “exahash era,” a time when the total Bitcoin mining network hashrate reaches and exceeds 1 EH per second. 1 exahash = 1,000,000 gigahashes.

In a press release, BitFury CEO Valery Vavilov said:

We are very excited to launch mass production of our super 16nm ASIC Chip…We understand that it will be nearly impossible for any older technology to compete with the performance of our new 16nm technology.
Lower Power Needs

Along with its increased power efficiency, the new BitFury chips can run with a power supply voltage of 0.35V, the company confirmed, with the static part of the chip functional at 0.28V.

The company also states that every new 16nm Chip will deliver a minimum of 100 GH/sec while averaging in a range about 140 GH/sec with air cooling. BitFury further claimed that the chips can achieve up to 184 GH/sec with the company’s third-generation immersion cooling technology.

BitFury added it will be partnering with Global Unichip Corporation (GUC) to mass produce the new chips.

In a statement, Jim Lai, the president of GUC stated:

We have worked closely with BitFury’s experienced IC designers and we are glad to assist BitFury achieve this outstanding result.

It was March 2015 when BitFury revealed its 28nm ASIC chip after progressing from its 55nm chip at the time. The 28nm chip will be used in BitFury’s new Georgia-based bitcoin mining farm, a project in which the company is investing a total of $100 million. The data center, to be built in Georgia’s capital city of Tbilisi will also make use of the miner’s new 16nm chips.

Bitfury CEO Vavilov cited the unique position the company is in with regards to the production of the high-efficiency chips and added:

As a responsible player in the Bitcoin community, we will be working with integration partners and resellers to make our unique technology widely available, ensuring that the network remainds decentralized as we move into the exahash era together.

In recent times, BitFury has also made headlines after recruiting a former White House staffer and aide to President Obama, Jamie Smith, as the company’s global chief of communications.
