No one knows for how long mining will stay profitable, right now even ETH mining is shrinking and not very good even while the price is over 3000$, this is really heart breaking, on 1660 cards only aeternity coin is more profitable
I'm done buying GPUs, we can't tell what will happen by January 2022 and now that GPUs are getting restocking in every stores and even AMD releasing better and affordable GPUs I think the time for a change is already here, I can only buy used GPUs for now
it depends on what GPUs are you buying , and there will be always some kind of Algo that you can mine , for sure for the most there are ASICs now but there are still a few for GPUs.About AMD i guess it will not takes long and we see something from Nvidia coming again .
But yeah at the moment to get new Gpus is very difficult and over priced in some countries.
The only way to play safe in this crypto space right now when it comes to GPU is to buy them at a very cheap price, in China wholesalers are still selling rx580 for 250-300$ per GPU so you are still going to get the best for your money even if bear market strikes, you can't go around buying 30MH for 500-600$ whereas the market looks uncertainty, try playing safe this is my 2cebt advice

When do you think this mining will last for? I'm talk about present profitability can this stay the same till second quarter of 2022? I'm thinking about getting more GPUs or maybe I should just wait for bear market? Honestly I don't picture the next bear market to be insane like 2018, crypto demand is too insane and it's worth is now recognise through out the world, should I say tha is to CoV-19?
This is relative to what we think and everyone has a different opinion on this.Personally I would only buy GPU-s like RX 6800 XT below the 900-1000 USD price and they give 64 Mhsh with 150-160 watt.I would personally buy GPU-s if I find at this price and if I find this kind of GPU-s which I am very happy with (right now have only two of them) and build up my processing hash power.Even if the bear market comes I can still mine at a loss and wait for the next bull run to make loads of money as when the bear market will come the difficulty of the coins will go down letting us generate more daily crypto than in the bull run.In the end as I said this is just my opinion,everyone has one of its own,they can help you by sharing theirs here.
