Im having a hard time importing a backup made by the bitcoicn android wallet in june, to any new light wallet (hive, myceilium, etc.)

Backup files are not interchangeable between apps.

note: you made the backup in june it was still for the 3.x version of A.S. Bitcoin Wallet. Mycelium did include an importer for single private keys from that time. if you download mycelium 1.3.3 for example from http://mycelium.com/assets/btcwallet/mbw-prodnet-release-1.3.3build133.apk you might be able to get back your key (start mycelium->accounts->add key->import schildbach wallet) i did not got through the whole thread but it might help you.

The protobuf-based backup format was introduced in v3.47 (May 2014).

Do you use that Android as controller for ASICs? I doubt that.

Then get a light wallet! I recommend Multibit, but really, read a little and do as you think.
I doubt that you need a full core wallet...

I will figure it out soon.

You should always have private keys exported before using any wallet or address

I know! this was my very first wallet that i got when i installed the app on my phone in late 2013
all my other wallets are paperwallets from bitaddress. That was my hot wallet.

I think you'll need Maven. http://maven.apache.org/
mvn is the Maven command IIRC.

awesome thanks!

Ok, so I moved the the file "bitcoin-wallet-backup-2014-07-16" from my phone to Ubuntu laptop that has bitcoin-qt running on it. Full blockchain has been download on the laptop as well.

How in the monkey balls do i recover that wallet using the full client? is it even possible?

Export your private key and use a lighter client and import it there.

It is downloading the whole block chain again.
Unless you don't mind waiting a couple of days.....

how can i export the private key from a bitcoin wallet backup?

Code:
dumpprivkey YourAddress

In Bitcoin Core's console.

DO you downloaded the bitcoin core?

If yes then sync will take some time because you need to download all blockchain.

You can use other wallets like multibit if you want quicker sync, but you have to trust that miners won't cheat you

Hello,
My old Android crashed and I got a new one. Installed the standard bitcoin wallet on there and I recovered the wallet. Now it says  "synchronizing with network, 8 months behind."  and im 24 hours in.

WTF is it doing? downloading the whole blockchain?
