Our son, Hayden was born deaf. We are currently using american sign language as his main tool for communication. He wears two hearing aids for now, which help some. We recently took him to recieve a cochlear implant but because of unforeseen complications in his surgery we will have to wait another six months before we can try again. We plan to always use ASL as his first language but once he recieves his implant we are hoping for spoken english to develop, as well, through extensive therapy. This page is to help raise money to pay for American Sign Lanugage materials such as videos, books, and activities to further educate Hayden and our family for maximum communication benefit; cochlear implant and hearing aid support for accessories such as an extra batteries, covers, and maintenance, along with a savings for later needed expenses, for example when his aqua cover for his cochlear implant has reached it's limit of 50 uses and another must be purchased; an iPad to assist in speech and hearing therapy along with apps that assist with american sign language; money raised will also help with transportation to and from audiologist and ENT appointments and surgeries.
