Yes it's this one.
I tried in solo during the day and the gtx970 found 5 blocks so not too bad.
Thank you for the link I wanted to know what the community here think of the project, so that'll do. Thks a lot.

If you found 5 blocks during the day with 1000 coins reward from what I have seen in their ANN page then it is simply awesome.A price of such coin is 0.02 cent or 20 USD for 1000 pieces in a block reward.I wonder what the power of RTX 3080 and more powerful cards is at this, hopefully it can find more blocks than the GTX 970 by solo mining which is great.

When did you found 5 blocks during the day as that is equal to 100 USD in cash rewards ?

I launched the miner solo yesterday from 10:00 am till 07:00pm.
As you say I also find this very interesting (and unhoped) to be able to crunch such number of blocks on such an "old" /average GPU.
At the end, the hashrate highs for the gtx970 alone was 870+mh/s  Shocked insane.

Today just to recheck I have launched the miner in solo on one of my 3060 rtx lhr. I'll check tonight if anything worked otherwise I'll put it back to shared mode or on something else.

Beware concerning the value in usd, I wouldn't trust the change on 0.02 but more something like 0.0002 usd.

According to the white paper of the project, the main idea behind this project is to design a navy battle game and the coin would be used in-game. So if the dev team achieve it tgis year that would definitely be a boost. W8 n see.

Hey there,

an update of my previous answer.

RVL/AVN was working great still hot.  I switched the GTX970 to FLUX @ around 20 sol/s. Nothing special here but better than nothing.
Good result FLUX @ around 20 sol/s. You will get about the same result with the RTX 3050.
But the profit is very small, it is better to sell such a video card.
https://whattomine.com/gpus/73-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3050?cost=0.1

Of course it's not interesting to mine on this GPU. I keep this GPU as it is on my not-dedicated-mining PC. I don't intend to replace it.
It's not a bad home PC graphics card unless you play modern games. Today, this video card has a good price in the market, but after the end of Ethereum mining, its price may drop significantly. You can now try to sell this video card profitably, and then buy a more powerful GPU.

Well I am into spec mining too and a few hours back I wanted to try mining galleoncoin.
So I gave a spin to the GTX970 and it displays me a whooping average 400mh and a max at 599mh. So obviously I wanted to try that on my 3060 lhr and disapointingly it barely achieved 150mh on windows and 230mh on linux... So yeah just for the fun, the gtx 970 is now up and running for some spec mining galleoncoin Smiley

I don’t know why this can be, maybe the miner is not optimized for the PTX 3060. And asics have been working on quark algoritm for a long time, so this is not the most profitable mining for video cards.

7970 consider is catalyst card for mining industry and for compute application, is the first card from amd reach 1tflpos in double precision, benefit for research

is beast and pretty strong card, at current market for mining. its consider to much power for small profit

Are you sure? These video cards have not been used in mining for a long time due to their high power consumption and minimal profit.
Look at the statistics on the pools where they are available
https://hiveos.farm/statistics/
For 8 years after the start of sales of HD7970, many good video cards have been produced.

Assuming you have your way around free electricity and you are given a choice to choose between these two graphic cards only what will you choose? Between hd7970 and gtx970, years back hd7970 can deliver 22MH on ETH and 18MH on gtx970 but due to DAG file they can't anymore, what will you mine with them?

Hey there,

I don't know what you would mine from that but here is my experience with my gtx 970:

- Eth algo is a no go
- kawpow is a no go

So finally I tried to throw some RVL x16r at it and it works at around 12 MH/s

In Chinese stores, ready-made cooling systems are sold from connected 3 fans. This cooling is very easy to attach to graphics cards. The cooling mode is regulated by the power of the fans. 12V 0.25A I think is enough for such video cards.
Any miner always has a few fans in stock, but gamers don't buy such a hand-made product.

Yes there are a lot of options available if the original fans are dead. On Amazon you can even buy an high quality after market cooling system with better heat pipes and fans than original, it’s all cheap because it only fits the old GPUs that nobody uses. Install is very easy, pretty much unscrew the old heatsink assembly and attach the new one. Would take less than an hour, maybe 30 mins.

Issue is no gamer wants to do this. Maybe they don’t have screwdrivers or maybe they just think they will break something. And if I would of installed this aftermarket cooling then nobody would buy the GPU because it would look different from the GPU pictured on the box and they would think it’s some counterfeit product.
Gamers are unlikely to know what an old five-year-old video card looks like in the original, and the replaced fans after 5 years do not cause concern.
I'm more worried about new graphics cards that are being sold a year later with new fans Smiley
In my country, in every city there are buyers who buy video cards from miners in bulk, and then sell "almost new video cards" to naive gamers after repairing the cooling system. And every year there are no fewer fools.

The hd7970 was a beast in its own time and even gtx970 is also close, these are kings of 1080p before gtx1080 was launched, today this cards still run video games very well, if I had them right now I'd build a cheap gaming rig out of them and sell on the market, believe me some gamers will buy

Yeah I Had a bunch of these and was selling them for decent price when covid hit and people were stuck at home with nothing to do. They didn’t want to pay $500 for a newer GPU but they didn’t mind paying $50-100 for these old GPUs, some even just crossfire them.

The issue is that half of my Tahiti had dead fans. So I figured a fan is like $10 on Amazon so I’ll discount $20-30 or so and guess what, not a single buyer. Apparently nobody wants to deal with broken fans and they just buy something else.

So if you got one with good fans, sell it but if it needs minor fan work then good luck finding a buyer.

I would make farms on these video cards for the purpose of selling in order to earn money. When the mining farm is still on sale, you can mine cryptocurrencies.
Both graphics cards are outdated junk.

The way that the Tahiti chip (Radeon 7950 7970 280x) work is their speed is dependent on their DAG. If you are mining epoch #1 it will hash at like 28mh/s and as the dag goes up and up it will slow down a little. Back in early 2016 they hashed ETH at 20mhs but in 2017 they hashed at like 12mhs because the dag got too big.

So you can use them now for ETC but keep in mind they will keep slowing down and down. And they generally burn 200 watts per 20mhs with undervolt and underclock.

You are better off selling them to gamers to be honest than mining.

I feel like it's already too late to buy new GPUs fir mining right now because mining profitability is on a walking time bomb as we speak, if it's true that crypto market will follow same move of 2017 then we are just few months away to bear market, now it's better to buy coins instead of taking risks with graphic cards

im buying coins these days because gpus are too expensive, every drop of alt coins i get few amount. i wanted buy rtx 3070ti and 3080ti for raven but calculated it looks buying coins more profitable because i will not mine so many ravens in 2 month. im not sure maybe i will loose but coin is coin will be in my wallet always.

I have an couple of HD7950 and they can pull like 25 MH/s at Ethereum Classic. Revenue is like $1 a day. Power draws like 150 W if you modify the BIOS. Profit $0,63.

If you have them you can use them, but don't go buy some in this market. You'll probably overpay for them (like all GPUs), but they will be the first ones that gets unprofitable.

About GTX 970 I don't have an experience. But I think they arn't any good at mining. Gaming wise they are still.

They are old cards and their glory was back in 2013-2016 where they were really relevant in mining, especially the HD7970 as probably the GTX 970 was produced a bit later. For now though if you want to mine, you can only mine coins which cannot give you a profit and those are coins in Ethash algorithm but that have a DAG size of less than 2 GB or just at a maximum of 2.5 GB for the HD7970 and up to 3.5 GB with the GTX 970.
However the GTX 970 I tried in ETC and it does not give a good number of MHSH so it is a total waste of time trying to make money mining with these cards.

The final answer if you have free electricity and if you want to mine and had to choose between these two I would go for the HD7970.

This is a complete waste of time  Grin that hd7970 will only give you 265$ per year and that is not worth using them for mining, it's better to sell them to PC gamers, atleast this GPU is capable of playing games of 2012-2019 and few new triple A games

Unfortunately these cards can't do anything again, I'd rather sell them for gamers that can't afford higher end graphic cards of today, I'm sure you will sell at good amount of money on eBay, if GPU mining is something you are looking to go into them use all the money to buy a better GPU like 3060ti or AMD 6600XT s
