I don't know why anyone would mine. I have a 7950. Tried mining a few coins, but gave up within hours. I'd only mine if I could see something new and special. I do not see anything like that.

Same here I've been reading and researching for months. now with all the excitement going on I decided to open my newbie mouth. I've been waiting for this drop to happen though I feel bad for those who lost money but at the same time I'm excited that I might be able to get cheap bitcoins like an early adopter.

Long time lurker, first time poster.
I operate a small GPU mine (which is nearly but not quite unprofitable now), trade the cryptocurrency markets and also run a couple of tech/person centered businessess.
Looking to develop a couple of BTC flavored Android apps in the near future and have some ideas for some websites. Basically, I think anyone who is savvy enough to work with BTC now will rise on the coat tails of its future success and I want to be part of that in some way, not just to take from it, but to contribute too.
