Was researching on mining bitcoin, but found that my system is way to low end to do that. Found dogecoins instead, and thought it's pretty fun.
but Dogecoins arent worth anything and were made up to be sort of a joke, you need to invest in BTC and Litecoins..

Protip: Never, EVER invest in a crypto backed by 4chan memes and copy pasta.

I'm not so sure this is true. There was a point when the protip probably was "don't invest in a random intangible currency"....

If people discover this technology through memes; all the more power to the CryptoCurrency economy.
altcoins help diversify peoples investments; either through direct mining, trading or OTC purchase, and help smooth major price movements and create arbitrage opportunities.

if doge will have any realistic value in the future (ive never particularly liked 'high' maximum #coin counts -- they do silly things like not fit into smaller data structures) is yet to be seen.

if this is your first look at cryptocurrency, please investigate some of the older derivatives also.

It's a joke that turned into something with potential.

I have a feeling theres financial analysts with the same opinion on bitcoin initially. Not saying Dogecoin is going to be an actual competitor to Bitcoin, but it is letting people such as myself who missed the initial crypto-rush and lack the hash-power to seriously mine for 'mainstream' coins to atleast get a taste of what is possible.

Exposure for crypto-currencies is a positive that has came from Dogecoin. If I had BTC, I would be investing in DOGE, it looks like the community are making a conscious effort to legitimize it.

It's not like it's a huge risk to put a little effort into something so small.  All crypto is a risk anyway.  I switched to Dogecoin for the time being and I'm just enjoying the ride.

It's a joke that turned into something with potential.  Then it got carried away and now it's back down to a joke again.  All this within a couple days.

Not bad for some coin...

Such coin.

I've been mining dogecoins for the past few days. I haven't decided whether it's going to be serious or not. If dogecoin ever gets to a similar market cap as bitcoin or litecoin then it's value would be 0.01-0.20 per coin. Which would make it more of a coin as apposed to bitcoin equaling $600 for one coin.

Dogecoin seems to be a scam coin. Just look at the final coins of 500 billion.

For now, it is just a hype. Dogecoin does not solve any problems of Bitcoin or the other altcoins. The exponential growth doesn´t look healthy, too.

It does solve the problem of accessibility by a large number of people who would never otherwise get involved with cryptos

Hey I was browsing and i saw theres this new dogecoin that started based on a very popular meme. I'm new to this and want to try to learn more about mining some of those doge coins. I regret not taking the time when bitcoin first started =/ hopefully its never too late.
