To Hash or not to Hash, that's what the question
got 2 7970 (tahiti) sapphire and diamond. Sapphire gets about 275ksols diamond gets about 250ksols which isnt bad at all for that old of a cards, having added 7770 and 7870 all together gets nice "ol'timer" box that does what it should. Note: Feeds off free "food" so im not worrying too much, otherwise, yes, its a bit too old.

i just picked up a gigabyte 3gb 7950 for $50 locally. realizing now that you cant get 20Mh/s out of them anymore. i can get 12.3Mh/s stock out of it. pushing the memclock up(1250->1400->1500(failure)) doesnt do anything. pushing the coreclock up(1000->1200(max)) does get me to 14.35Mh/s though. i think thats about all i can squeeze out of her. thats probably not even worth it for the card, power consumption wise. not sure what it will do for XMR, but probably not worth it.

im also having these issues with it:

Seems you don't have enough memory for the Dag. You need at least 3GB VRAM on the card to mine ETH.

He does have 3GB, but you can't mine ETH anymore with Tahiti cards.

Just mine ZEC, almost 300H/s per core.

I'm mining with a Tahiti card right now? Hashrate is low, but it works.

If you want to mine ETH you can do two things: install another 4gb + card as your gpu0 (put it in the main slot) or mine headless in ubuntu with that card.
Otherwise I agree you better can mine zcash

Ahh gotcha. I just tried zCASH in the past hour and its going nuts. Thanks for the suggestion.

How long would it take to mine a zCASH coin with 2 x 7990s?

So you need minimium of 3-4Gb per card to mine ETH?
Yeah, you do, the DAG is massive. what's your hashrate for zcash?

Dont mine ETH with that GPU, mine ZEC instead.

Hey Guys,

First post here and im struggling alot.

Have been working on solving this problem for close to 9 hours now unsuccessfully.

I am running 2 x HD7990s on Windows 10 64bit with Claymores Ethereum Miner v9.x I have tried 9.3, 9.4, 9.5 without success.

I have installed Radeon Crimson 15.12 as per the readme docs from Claymores

The issue im having is after the script runs and the cards start mining it throws up this error:

Code:
GPU1, Open CL error -4(0) - cannot create DAG on GPU
GPU1 failed.

GPU3, Open CL error -4(0) - cannot create DAG on GPU
GPU3 failed.

WATCHDOG: GPU Error, you need to restart miner :(

And it just loops with this.

Whats weird is that GPU0 and GPU1 are one card (cause the 7990s have two graphics cards in them) and then GPU2 and GPU3 are in the other card. So there is something going on with having them both run hand in hand.

I have tried upping my virtual memory. Which is currently at 24,000Mb min and 44,000Mb Max (tried 10,000Mb min and 16,000Mb Max without success)

Here is my start.bat
Code:
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
ethminer.exe -epool  us1.ethermine.org:4444 -ewa . -epsw x -esm 0 -mode 0 -tt 80,80,80,80 -asm 0 -gser 2 -eres 1

Alot of the extra switches I have added from reading forum posts without success
Code:
-esm 0 -mode 0 -tt 80,80,80,80 -asm 0 -gser 2 -eres 1

I have tried upgrading to the latest device driver to 22.11.171.1 as per one suggestion but still having the same issues.

I have tried re-installing windows 10 and starting everything from scratch.

I have tried about 20 other things but given its 2:30am and ive been working on this for 9+ hours my brain is struggling to remember everything ive tried.

Hopefully its a simple fix but im out of ideas. If anyone can make some suggestions of things to try I would be greatly appreciated. Smiley

Thankyou
