Many thanks all for the advice. Much appreciated. I'll go through it all and get back to you. I resigned to maybe losing the money. But I did think that because bitcoin was all electronic there would be records. But I would like to know why for my own experience and knowledge for the future. Merry Christmas all. 🤓

Have you solve it? If the wallet is not problem then the problem might be you sent the coins to another address than you thought you will send, this might occur if you take a virus and when press paste the virus put hacker address or by mistake. What wallet you use?

It says it was sent with over a 1000 confirmations. But nothing was received. I can't work out what I did wrong and how I can get my money back. Many thanks. 🤓
Who said that? Did you check it yourself on any block explorer?
Anyway, as said above, bitcoin transactions are irreversible. Hence, if you don't own the private keys of the address to which the funds have been sent or don't know to whom it belongs, I doubt you will be able to get your money back.

Start by checking the transaction id on any block explorer such as blockchain.com and see if the receiving address is the same one you used to send to. If it's not, try to figure out to whom it belongs and how you ended up sending your coins to it.

But it cannot be displayed since you are still a newbie. Don't worry, I will quote the link.
It really won't work as you have said. Well, it's up to op whether to use the quote or paste the imgur link without the code for images.

PS. Make sure you don't answer to people that may try to "help" you in PM; please don't post sensitive info (seed, private key).
Correct. Just post the notification or not sensitive info.
Let's just hope that op won't provide info like private keys or lose even more btc which is bad and also op won't  answer to pm's fron other forum users that might take advantage.

Maybe there was actually nothing on the wallet on the 4th run? Well, according to you it did say that it was sent so I actually doubt that. Provide the information of the exchange, and the wallet you used on the transaction, not only the image of the notification you actually received. Plus, have you crossed out anything different you actually did from the first 2 times to the 3rd time? Might answer your questions. Since you were successful on the 1st and 2nd one, as well as the 4th one, there might have been a mistake on the address instead? Might want to recheck the transaction details to make sure.

I think during the Bitcoin transaction you should have checked the wallet well. Where should you use a wallet Also if there is a problem with the server many times and wait for the net due to delay Before exchanging Bitcoin always check which exchange side you are giving.

But now have to work out how to insert it here  Huh
You can use imgur.com to upload the picture.

Quick way: Go to imgur.com --> Upload the picture --> Get share links --> BBCode (Forums).   Then put the link here.  Done!

Example:
Code:

Hello. I've been sending bitcoins 4 times now from my wallet to the same recipient. All have worked fine aprt from the 3rd time. It says it was sent with over a 1000 confirmations. But nothing was received. I can't work out what I did wrong and how I can get my money back. Many thanks. 🤓

First of all, Bitcoin transactions are not reversible, so the chance to get anything back is slim.
But your explanation only tells that you have a problem. Not enough info to understand what happened there.
1. What wallet did/do you use?
2. Which are the good transactions and which is the bad transaction - can you post the transaction id for them?
3. (although it will already be visible in the transactions, it may not be clear what is what so..) it could also help to post the sender and recipient (wallet) address.

I think you are better to make it clear first. What wallet do you use? And where do you send it? To an exchange wallet or non-exchange wallet? If you have a picture showing the notification, please drop it here. It should be very helpful to know what the problem is.
