This is what you want to read through:

https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/blob/v0.8.6.2/contrib/gitian-descriptors/README

Note that according to their commit notes the litecoin devs updated dependency versions (boost 1.55), but the docs weren't updated to reflect it.  Adjust accordingly.

Read the readme's and setup a gitian build environment.  You will have to hack the scripts to deal with dependency versions and comment out git operations until you are ready to do fully automated builds against your git repo.

The process is well documented.  If the readme's aren't up to date in the Litecoin tree (I just did this but I don't remember), you can go look at the readme's for Bitcoin 0.8.6, pick the 0.8.6 tag.  There were some things that changed a bit in the Bitcoin master branch.  You can read through the yml files in the contrib/gitian-descriptors folder.

I do know that when I recently did this, I had to edit and hack a lot of build scripts as none of them worked, but this was for a clone coin that appeared to be based on the original version of Litecoin (for whatever reason)...maybe the latest Litecoin has working scripts already.  Just follow the steps in the readme, and break/fix whatever fails.

The nice thing is once you have a working gitian environment setup, then you have a repeatable build process and you don't have to do it again.

as the topic says I need some help building the litecoin source on Ubuntu but for Windows. was simple enough to build litecoind on Ubuntu but I just want to be able to build it on Unix so I can try it. have me a bunch of problems trying to compile it on widows so I though it be easier on Linux platform.
