BitMaxz your solution seemed to work, using https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Web browser as I dont support chrome/opera spyware
I can confirm firefox doesn't let me access the panel when gnome browser does

Although this solution isn't a complete fix as I do still have to restart the machine, but now 1 out of every 5 restarts makes it work, vs 1 out of every 100 or so like before.

thanks!

Ebang firmware or software is not updated they are no longer releasing any firmware so the program behind is outdated if you use the latest browser version sometimes its slow access sometimes not it's also the same on old or outdated routers most of them are inaccessible without using internet explorer or using old version of opera mini it's just base on my experienced and what I remember to someone who has the same issue before. So that's I think the reason why you can't access the IP sometimes or it's very slow.

Instead of accessing it via gnome why not use some tools like awesomeminer I don't know what is your current unit model but try to check on the following link if your unit model is supported

How about in another browser did you tried to access it through firefox or incognito mode?

I heard before that their dashboard is inaccessible if you are using the latest Chrome or Firefox browser they can only access the dashboard if you use an older version or use an old version of Opera Mini you can try it. Also don't forget to try accessing it through Internet Explorer.

I think this has to do with the control board of your Ebang miner, everything you are describing points me to control board and nothing else. You would need to reset the miner or get a spare hashboard. Obviously, there is still a small possibility that the ethernet cable/plug is causing this, so it's worth trying those first, if nothing works, then a hard reset and SDcard flash with the latest firmware is a must, if all fails -- get a new control board.

If it doesn't work I suggest try to hard reset the unit by holding the reset button for 5-10 seconds then set up the unit again make sure to change the unit network mode from DHCP to Static with Google or Cloudflare DNS then update here if it works or not.

Just in case for reference and troubleshooting guide check the link below.

Try a different eth cable.

get 99% alcohol and q-tips

soak a q-tip stick it in the eth port.

clean the eth port 3 or 4 times.

You stored the ebangs a long time.

you could have invisible oxidation on the port.

swabs

alcohol make sure it is 99%

also swab the eth cables with alcohol

Getting access into the Ebang webpanel via the ip seems to require luck. only sometimes the page lets you connect, 1/50 attempts returns failed to load webpage.

I am using the correct IP - its always 192.168.1.55 - which is confirmed in my router admin page as -  but trying to access this ip in the browser almost always returns a failed to load page message.

Turning the miner off and on and reloading the webpage with the miner ip eventually gets you access, but this can take 1 hour of page refreshing and unplugging.

Any ideas?

I tried saving one of the urls when the page did load - https://192.168.1.55/public/login.html
but as soon as I restarted the machine, this page also fails to load.
