i would get a cheap pc just for mining, your mac dosent bring enough in, you might get .01 or less BTC per day with that on a pool mine.
not sure how much it costs to run ur mac but i dont think youll profit.

What GPU does that Mac have? It needs to be a Radeon 4xxx or better. Also you'll have to switch to Windows or Linux to mine. Since you have a mac anyway, you should just buy bitcoins.

Hey dudes...

I will not be sad when you laugh at me.

Alright, I found out about bitcoins 2-3 weeks ago and have been trying to figure out the mining thing.

I own a 2.4 Ghz Mac with OS x 10.5.8.

I am running the generic Bitcoin wallet and while in "generating" mode, am getting 1423 khash/s.

I have tried to figure out which software to run and how to run it on my mac but I am repeatedly getting lost.  Either I can't figure out which software to run for mac, or can't figure out whether to run CPU or GPU, and most people talking about it are wayyy too deep in the bitcoin/hardware/software lingo for me to figure it out.

So.

- Do I try mining on my mac?  If so, what software/miningpool do you recommend for me?
- or
- Get a cheap pc for mining purposes alone?  If so, what are your recommendations for pc specs / mining software to use / websites that might help me get set up / mining pool, etc?

Edit:  Or do I go with option 3 and just not mine - buy bitcoins instead?

I know Im asking a lot and Im sure the answers are out there, but trust me I tried.  Either I can't figure out the best search keywords to put in, or I'm running into lingo thats beyond me.

Thanks guys...
rob
