Thank you a lot, for your answer and your feedback Smiley

MtGox was included mainly to see how much you know about cryptos "historically" since it was the probably first and surely biggest hack ever. My guess is that "casuals" have maybe heard of NiceHash and a couple more, but not of MtGox

I will make that question clearer, what I meant was: if govt decided to put extra regulation, e.g. to track and tax profit, would you be ok with it taxing you? As of now, in Italy regulation on cryptocurrencies is basically non-existant (yes, it's true, our lawmaking system is probably the slowest ever)

Btw, govt regulation is also going to be in the dissertation, I forgot about it Smiley

Ok, so I did the survey, it's simple and easy for the most part. The only things that I found funny or strange was including Mt.Gox in the list of popular wallets  Roll Eyes
And you could make this question a bit more clear:
Quote
Regarding possible government regulation on following aspects of the cryptocurrencies, do you:....
and then you ask about taxes for instance and if I agree or not. So do I agree that the regulations mean taxes? Or do I agree that we need the regulations in order to be able to pay taxes?

Unfortunately, nobody knows how much money is in cold wallets because there's no indication of that anywhere in the blockchain. You could assume that the coins that aren't being moved for a long time are, but among them there will certainly be lost coins and there's at least a million of those out there.

Hello all,

First of all I'm new to the community , so i hope I got the right Board

Second of all, I'm working on my MSc dissertation for "Economics and Management of Innovation and Technology" (long story short, EMIT) on cryptocurrencies, with particular attention to the cybersecurity matter.

I would really appreciate it if you helped me out by completing a survey (5 minutes long):
https://unibocconi.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cTpS4XxcASRx28B

Since I do know that privacy is valued in cryptocurrencies environment, all more "personal" questions are either skippable or have a "I prefer not to answer" option.

Since I'm here, any suggestion  on the cryptocurrencies theme on what to add/modify to the dissertation is most welcome.
Right know, the main focal points are:

-general intro about alternative currencies in history and cryptocurrencies now
-----mining (with example of a block)
-----trading
-----circulation
-----privacy
-----stock exchange & futures
-----risks (volatility, liquidity, security, ...)
-----goverment regulation (Italy, EU, USA, Japan, Korea & other major countries)
-blockchain (you can't really not talk about it)
-----general concepts and how it basically works
-----decentralization of data
-----elliptic curve digital signatures
-----possible applications in other industries
-cybersecurity
-----hot vs cold wallets: pros and cons
-----robberies vs hacking (kind of a long stretch, if any of you can point me to an even remotely accurate estimation of how much % is in cold wallets, I would probably ask you to marry me, no matter what  Wink)
-----analysis of the most (in)famous hacks (from MtGox to NiceHash)
