The forum has Services and Marketplace boards.
They obviously don’t have the funds for all that which is why, they are looking to utilize this means to solve their fund raiser problems for their movie.
I can't see the obvious since their point is they don't have the (GPU) power to render their project before the deadline.
The cost of purchasing and setting GPU rigs (and the time it takes) can't be compared to renting electricity cost of a GPU farm for a few hours.
It would be fair for the GPU farm if he at least cover the electricity cost (or plus their potential earning which is a few cents per day per GPU).

I've pointed them to paid and free options since it's better to have another option in case no one is willing to do it for free, because there's a deadline.

I don’t really get them though, when they say you get to link it to your mining rig or something like that. How does this work really?
A quick Search Engine query about "Blender" and "SheepIT" should point you to the right FAQs or Videos.

Bitcoin miners stopped using GPUs over ten years ago.

No, but a lot of ETH clones do, and i believe they were aiming at that part of the community.
However, since ETH is POS they remain "workless" unless they are mining one of those shitcoins based on ETH POW protocol, and they might be able to help you out for a price

As miners need a lot of graphics and memory power, we thought that we might find help in the mining community. So we wanted to ask you if it would be possible for you to connect your machines to

Also, if the script is really that good, perhaps you could seek out partners to review and possibly fund the project. I don’t know what it is about deadline that, it must be 15th of January. If your funds doesn’t allow you, then you can give yourselves and the crew the time it needs.

I think they are looking for free help from a Bitcoin miner who can do their work. We know Bitcoin miners use high GPU systems for mining, and for VFX rendering, they also need a powerful GPU that is equipped or updated for computational tasks. So, if they approach a Bitcoin miner, that will give them a free hand. The deadline is very near, and seeking other options, like hiring someone who can work for them, will take more time, and they are already short on time. In this scenario, hiring a Bitcoin miner is a good option for them, and that's why they are here on this forum.

My advice for them is, since you are already short on time, why are you waiting or looking for help? Just go to the service section and create a topic, surely some guys will approach you. Spending a small amount of money is better than the failure of the whole project, so go through with it, it will be good for you guys.

Hey,
We‘re two students from Germany and we are currently making a movie.

If you have the funds, you can rent a GPU miner's rig for a few satoshi or altcoins, you can post it in "Services" board if you're paying in Bitcoins or "Marketplace (Altcoins)" for Altcoins.
(make use the forum's "Trust" system when going to those boards)

If you still want it free, go to the appropriate mining board which is for Altcoins that use GPU farms.
Link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=160.0
Don't get your hopes up though since GPU farms are barely making profit nowadays.
Not to mention, connecting their rigs to you means that they'll have to pay for the electricity while earning nothing.

Hey,
We‘re two students from Germany and we are currently making a movie. This movie has a lot of VFX (visual effects) shots which need a lot of render power. Unfortunately, we don’t have this amount of power. So we started searching for possible helpers. As miners need a lot of graphics and memory power, we thought that we might find help in the mining community. So we wanted to ask you if it would be possible for you to connect your machines to SheepIT (a tool to render our VFX shots on your pc) via the username and the public key.
This would literally save us, because we are facing a deadline (15th of January), and there is still a lot of work to do.
Thanks a lot!
