Im not the best with computers. It will take some time to figure it out. Ive tried alot of different miners. The best ive found for cryptonight algos on amd is team red miner. I use to use cast xmr but the dev no longer writes for the new hard forks. I prefer the comand line interface ovet the config file. When i first started mining i mined eth and use claymore miner. There is alot of very detailed info in the readme.txt file on the claymore download that is applicable to the majority of mining software out there. I also used the vega miners guide. Alot of that info is outdated on that page and was written for use with old amd drivers that did not have good support for vega cards but its info that can still help you to get started mining with vega cards. They can be tempermental sometime. Once you get your mining software running and your rrady to start tuning it in start with the stock settings and make small adjustments on each card and let them run for a couple hours. If the rig does not crash adjust a little more. Once the rig seems to be stable and you can get it down to around 915mv on core and memory voltage try running it for several days. If that works lower the voltage even more. If it crashes bump it back up. I run my vegas at 1340/905 core and 1085-1100/905 memory for vega 64, 1340/905 core and 930/905 for vega 56

Vega 64 2340-2370 h/s
Vega 56 2100 h/s
Power consumption range from 175 to 195 watts/card
I use overdrivent tool for voltage and frequency control and amd memory tweak for timing straps. Avoid the amd memory tweak until you get the rig up and running its a little more complicated and can really make you pull your hair out.

A few things:

1.  Until you get the GPUs figured out, don't mine with the CPU.  By the way, what is the CPU?

2.  was that xmr-stak config auto generated or did you modify it?

Try setting this in the config file for the Vegas:

"intensity" : 1920, "worksize" : 16,
"affine_to_cpu" : false, "strided_index" : 2, "mem_chunk" : 2, "unroll" : 8,
"comp_mode" : false

In all honesty it might be the affine_to_cpu set to true that is bogging everything down.

Thank you all, I've still not had any luck.  I'm going to try a few of those tips.  I just offered the $10 because I don't think its fair to ask for someone's expertise for nothing.  Also, thank you for the move to the correct forum.

use teamred miner
it is easy to configure and install
configure clock and memory speeds using overdriventool
it will help you to get most hashrate from the cards without pulling too much power

Yes TeamRedMiner is much easier to use. But in that XMR-STAK config it seems that you are using too high intensity? Try like 1942-1960 for both threads, or even lower.

You should move your topic to the Mining (Altcoins) board, at which you will get help, for free. By the way, I would like to remind you that you should never leave anyone ability to connect to and control of your rigs. That is too risky. Ask for help, tricks, and try to solve your rig's issues by yourself with those tricks.

I'm at my wits end on getting my first GPU rig going, i've spent about three nights working on it, and i'm at my wit's end.  I'm willing to pay $10 (in btc,ltc or xmr of course) to someone who can help me get it going.

The rig is assembled, and i've got some parts of XMRstak configured properly.  Two of the cards are plugged in, and they run.  But I'm not seeing their hash rate show up reliably when i query it.  Its almost like they are only getting instructions or shares intermittently.

I recorded a little youtube vid to get the troubleshooting started https://youtu.be/jBDq2mb8r94

Probably the best way to contact me is by e-mail.   [email protected]
