By "steal" do you mean it will no longer appear in my account balance? Also, why do you think this should work, anyway? Was it something in the error code that tipped you off to it?

I've sent them numerous emails to no avail.

All the coins ive deposited to bter vanished as soon as it confirms. This xchanger is scam, i guess they will work for us accounts 4 now, be careful.
If you deposit 1 LTC, they will remove the error, but they will take that LTC.
I did as you said but the problem still exists. However, now the error code is:
code: LTC-50824--1--1.3399
I guess I just gave them another LTC for nothing...
