Has anyone here had any experience installing Armory in a Tails persistence volume? I can transfer the .deb package to the volume but there doesn't seem to be a deb installer in Tails and I am lost otherwise.

sorry but No, I have no experience with Tails persistence, but you should try to find support in Armory section.
just look for selection menu "jump to" on bottom right. Armory is around 10th from top.
