hey alex, did you manage to get the rig up and running with an R9 280X ?
which OS are you using for this setup ? i don`t think D945 mobo supports win7 &
I read somewhere that there are problems with making a 32-bit WinXP work with 280x, mainly due to the correct version of drivers and OpenCL runtime not being available for cgminer setup

For your kind attention I'm using windows 7 64 bit, also I bought a r9 280x with cooler master 600w PSU for 32k and It also works perfectly with my current config Wink

Of course the cards are under volted a healthy bit Cheesy

I thought so but had to confirm .. cause you never know .. have seem people pushing it to the limits and then there are those rigs on fire pics all over the forums lol.

Well some do...but most serious miners always undervolt. You gotta hit the sweet spot with power consumption. But some cards are just too stubborn to give good hashrates in normal circumstances. Only thing you can do is install a water bracket and overvolt.

I've run 2 cards and the whole system on a Seasonic 620W S12II, fairly possible but 750 would be safer. Then for 2 more cards you can get another 500-600W PSU. And by card I mean 7950/R9-280x

Hmm seems like its running good... undervolted ?

Will just changing my PSU make it work like a boss ? How many GPU's can I use ? after upgrading to some 650W PSU ?

I believe you can just put 1 card or max 2 (would be risky imo but I may be wrong) with a 650 W PSU .. because most of these cards have a minimum requirement of 500 W for the PSU mentioned on them (that would include the mobo power as well). So if you could up your budget for the card to about 23k then you could get a r9 280x . But then again this PSU wont do any good with that. The 280x gives about 700-750 khps I believe, from what I had checked online last about like a month ago.

A cheapo Zebronics PSU isn't recommended when you're plugging in a 17K GPU. Get something better. Both Corsair and Antec have quality PSU for lower budget. For anything upwards of 500W, get Seasonic.

I've a old PC with the following configuration :

MOTHERBOARD : Intel Desktop Board D945GCNL
PROCESSOR    : Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz
RAM              : 3gb DDR3 RAM 667 (2+1)
HDD           : Seagate barracuda 500gb 7200RPM
PSU                   : zeb-450w sata plus

My Budget is 20k. I had an idea of buying a r9 270. Any ideas and suggestions ?
