Thanks Jdope.

One related question. Is brand a restriction i.e. does for eg. all should be Sapphires or Sapphires can be mixed with XFXs within the same 400 series?

Regards,

Riz

They can be mixed fine. My rig of 1060s has two Asus cards, a PNY card with a blower-style cooler, and 3 other PNY cards. I also have a rig of HD 7000 series cards with Asus, MSI, XFX, and PowerColor cards.

Sometimes different models of a card can come with different clock settings, so you may want to watch for that (especially if you use MSI Afterburner's "sync settings for similar gpus" setting, or something similar), since some cards that come factory OC'd could have significantly better overclocking potential than your other cards. (Although overclocking capabilities will vary on your cards, even within the same brand and model.)

Yeah it is completely possible, the tricky one is when you're trying to mix and match between rx 4xx and rx 5xx, but as long as they are both rx 4xx that is possible and not any hard work at all, just connect them up and install your drivers and things will go right as planned

Hi,

I want to know something really crucial for me and would be really thankful if you give our opinion on and share experience with that:

I have decided on board, that is, Asrock H81 Pro BTC R2.0. For the GPU I think RX 470 4GB would be a better option for me. I am short of funds for buying 6 GPUs at once. And 470s are in bit short of supply in market. In case 470s are out of stock then my fallback would be to mix and match RX 470 4GBs with RX 480 8GBs for example three 470s and three 480s.

Before getting into purchase, I want to be 100 percent sure that is it possible to do that with Asrock H81 Pro BTC R2.0? Anyone did that? What were the issues faced? Lessons learned? Advise?

Thanking you in anticipation.

Regards,

Riz
