You should get a PSU with a greater efficiency rating than that one (the one linked is rated at 80%+). You'll just be wasting electricity there. Try to get a gold or platinum rated one (87 / 90%), or at least a bronze / silver.

Just for reference if someone find this topic ussefull:

Rig in this config with 2x7950 at stock voltage and clocks draw only 520W at wall while mining. (1150 KHs scrypt)

Hello guy,

sorry for my late post but i was waiting PC parts...

Tommorow finally I am going for them. But right now I will use only 3x HD7950.

I ended with this setup:

RAM:
Kingston 8GB KIT DDR3 1600MHz CL9 HyperX blue Edition

MOBO:
ASROCK H77 Pro4/M

CPU:
Intel Pentium G2130

GPU:
Right now I will use only 3x HD9750

PSU:
For 4 x 7950 I ended with 1300W PSU. ( http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=120-G2-1300-XR )

EDIT:
Finished rig will use 4 cards so I will go for better PSU going to find one right now Smiley

okay for 4x7950 i just go the safest way 1250W or for 6x7950 I will go for 1500W PSU.

@chadwickx16
Its not hard to find that MOBO http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157449

Thanks,  I guess I haven't looked in a week or two. Only China shops were selling it for about $100.

Oh I am sorry. You are correct. I just fast-googled it.

It is available on one of my country retail shop. But they are quite expansive here...almost 100 USD Sad

1000W is fine IF
a) The PSU isn't obviously crap or misleading advertising. It should provide 80+A on a 12V single-rail. Perhaps Corsair or Seasonic
b) you undervolt ALL the cards previously, tweak them one by one, and NEVER mine or otherwise use them at full speed with stock voltage.

With the above, even 850W is theoretically enough, however it's irresponsible to recommend such.

Hello miners Smiley

I am now sitting now with 3x7950 cards already at home (4th on my way soon) and planing which hardware will be best to buy for my mining rig with good price.

Here is my planned setup:

GPU:
4 x HD 7950 DUAL-X (or 6x if this MOBO can handle it)

MOBO:
ASROCK H81 PRO BTC

RAM:
8 GB

CPU:
Intel Pentium G3220

PSU:
Didnt know yet.

This mobo should be running up to 6 GPU...is that possible? If yes, I need PSU for 6 x 7950. Otherwise I will need just for 4x7950

I read a lot of posts here and people have different opinions...some says 4x7950 should be ok with 1000W some says 1250W is needed. Can you help me?

Btw sorry for my ugly english Cheesy And thanks for any advice.

BTW: I am reading on a lot of post there is problem to get 7950...I can sell them for 485 USD (+shipping) if someone will be interested. (Another thread for this soon)
