Not sure if this work, My suggestion:
1 Don’t remove anything
2 Go to C:\Program Files or c:\Users\Username\Appdata\Roaming or download file
  Find Neo wallet data file
3 Use a USB drive copy the data file
4 Use another computer install the new Neo wallet
5 search new neo wallet data file and replace with old one
6 open the wallet see if it work

The passphrase in this case is most likely your private key.

The passphrase is certainly not the private key. The passphrase is used to encrypt the private key so that others can not view it.

Anyway, you must recover your wallet data files. You cannot restore your wallet without them if you did not back up your private key as instructed. Good luck.

Finally, this is a Bitcoin forum. I suggest asking your questions in a NEO forum because you will probably get better answers.

Sorry to hear this..

The passphrase in this case is most likely your (encrypted) private key. While i’m not super knowledeable on the NEON wallet, have you looked into a NEON faq or contacted customer support to see if there is a way to gain access to your account using an alternative method?

Try taking out your hard drive and connect it externally to another computer to access the files.

Hi guys, I'm fairly new to crypto trading and I've made a couple really stupid mistakes that resulted in me not being able to access my NEO stored on my NEON Wallet.

Basically, I've stored my NEO on the Neon wallet for a long time and logged in using a password, not my private key. Recently though, Windows 10 randomly crashed on my computer and I have no way to access the program, or my desktop, without reinstalling Windows (which will uninstall the wallet).

I do not know my private key, only the password I used to log in, and I'm afraid that if I have to reinstall the program, it won't be the same version or it won't connect to my wallet without the private key. I have access to the Command Prompt and can kind of navigate through my folders in a roundabout way from my boot menu, but I can't open any programs or files, just view them. I'm not sure if that helps.

I can't do a system restore to a previous point because no "image" of my pc was ever captured (I realize how stupid I must sound).

I know my Neo is actually stored on the Neon cloud and not my PC, but I can't find a way to access my wallet without the private key. I read online that it is easy to access the wallet if you know the password and passphrase, but I'm not really sure what a passphrase is. Can someone explain what that means?

I'm getting desperate trying to figure this out. I had over half of my portfolio on that wallet. Like the title says, I'll send a NEO to anyone who can provide a solution to this problem. Thank you for any help
