There is no mystery here. Blockchain.info stores information in the browser, this should be apparent when your browser prompts you that the site is about to, "store data locally".

As others have said however for 5BTC I'd use an offline wallet.

I don't know what the hell is going on.  So on the 7th of November I received my first BTC (4.9) to one address. I then sent them to another address. I was able to log on successfully to this second address and find my BTC in there. I then wanted to see how gambling with BTC was. So i sent a very small amount to a site. Things were still going ok. Then I realized I should protect my account better so I added getting a text message as a second requirement. It worked fine and I tried logging in after getting the txt message and it worked fine...BTC were still there.

For my second address I had manually written down all the info for it. So today I try logging in and it isn't working with my password. I then use the password from address 1 (they were similar...I should have made my passwords better, I know) in connection to the identifier for address 2 and then end up signing into address 1.  Which of course has 0 BTC.

I then am confused so I go log into address 1 itself using address 1's password with address 1's identifier. Somehow, with logging in using 2 different identifiers I am going to the same address!! How is this happening?

I then just now go type in my string of random words for the wallet recovery for address 2.  And btw this is indeed where the BTC are located. There are only 2 transactions for this wallet. The first receiving the BTC and the second sending that little amount to the gambling site. It still says final total BTC is what it should be.  So I get my password and an identifier link to log in with. Well this damn password isn't the right one. Again it is the password from address 1. And after I log in using my address 2 info and recovery process stuff I end up on address 1 !!!?  Wth.

Can someone please help? Did something go wrong with the 2FA?

Edit: I can't post yet due to time restrictions. I'm using Blockchain.info

This happened to me exactly one time (a few days ago) although I've been using blockchain.info for a long time now.  The problem later "fixed" itself and I can't explain what happened.

Ever since I put my coins for savings in a "watch only" address (and store the private key securely outside of blockchain.info) I sleep much better.

Is what the bitcoin qt thing is for?

Yes but i would suggest something more entry-level friendly like
multibit https://multibit.org/ or
electrum http://electrum.org/

In any case you should consider start using a wallet in your pc and not holding all your coins in one especially if it's online.

^Ok, will do. Thanks for the tip.  I was scared as hell there for a little

What is address 1 and 2. You mean 2 different accounts on blockchain?

Yes, two different accounts. Account one sent money to account 2. Then my problem was on Safari the 2 seperate identifiers were both taking my to account 1 after logging in, not account 2 (with the BTC).

Good news...

Try clearing your browser history, sounds like a cookie or cached info

Blockchain.info

Ok, now this is weird. I just tried logging in with the password from address 2 in connection the identifier for address 2 on internet explorer. It worked fine and I am looking at my account having 4.8 BTC. Good.

I go to do the same thing on safari (this is the browser I was using when I made this thread) and again the identifier for wallet 2 takes me to address 1.  How does that happen?
