No joy iam afraid checked 0 in paper  wallet . Boooooo I Obviously set it up to send them there at some point. I have scanned my pc for several different things and this looks promising.

cryptopassworddialog.xbf

I have opened it up and it looks like

20 D6 E9 6C 03 C6 DF 00 58 CA 61 2022 D4 66 AF 0E And some gobledy goop at the end
Dont suppose these are my private keys are they?

I had to download a program to open it (freefileviewer )

happy crypto christmas

Put the address (NOT the private key) for the paper wallet into a block explorer like https://blockchain.info

If the address shows a positive balance, then there are coins there. If it is showing as empty on a blockexplorer, then the address is definitely empty and syncing will not change that.

Now i returned home ( traveling 3 years ) to find a paper wallet Thats where i believed my coins to be ( empty ) now by anychance if i let the network sync will the transaction out suddenly show up in my paper wallet?

Can anyone help me I've not been into mining for a few years. 2014 I gave up. Now found a old wallet.dat But I have forgotten the password. Anyway of retrieving it?

would my password have been changed into a algorithm

I only have 0.003 but want to be able to access it

thanks

Unfortunately you can't. And i  don't think that a change in the algorithm would suddenly make core "changing" your passwords.

The only way you can retrieve your coins is maybe if you've copy pasted any of the private keys somewhere, but i doubt you did.

Unless you maybe had a really easy password ( consisting of 1-5 letters) you might be able to bruteforce it, but i doubt that aswell, and i don't think it is worth it for 0.003..
