Some of my threads are self-moderated and it's neat feature to have. Sometimes I forget to tick the option and at other times I intentionally don't want a self-modded thread.

I personally don't like to see self-moderated threads when money is at stake or someone's reputation. People might question your motives if you are moderating such threads yourself. It makes it look like you are trying to hide something. But with the bots we have scrapping the forum nowadays, that's practically impossible to do.

I also remember seeing reputation threads or accusations against a person or group in threads that were self-moderated and had local rules that restricted those individuals from posting. That doesn't make much sense. You don't accuse someone of something but don't allow them to share their side of the story so that the community can approach the issue in a neutral way.

<...> "Is this feature (moderation by myself) free to use on every board, or can it only be used on certain boards?"

The following post depicts the boards and conditions where self-moderated topics are not allowed to be created:

will users see when posts are deleted?

No. I might add that later, but it's not a trivial change.

Self-moderated topics? Can you say what boards this applies too? This is going to be bad if it is on certain boards, cause some people can edit threads to benefit them, I really hope it is just the off-topic board.

The excluded sections are Meta (except for this topic), Scam Accusations, Important Announcements, and Auctions. Tagged scammers can't use this feature. You don't have to participate in self-moderated topics if you're worried about manipulation by the OP.

Since the post is from 2013, when the self-moderated feature was added, I’m not sure if it is up-to-date with the board exclusions, as there might have been changes at some point later down the road.

another question from me is . "Is this feature (moderation by myself) free to use on every board, or can it only be used on certain boards?"
Self mod feature is restricted on certain boards like Meta, Scam Accusations, Important Announcements, and Auctions.
And once you create a thread (which allows self mod) without activating the feature, it is not possible to make it self moderated.

Here's a quote from theymos;

It's usually good when creating a discussion topic in boards where there's too much spam
Well maybe your suggestion is right. This will be very useful if I use it in discussion boards that contain a lot of spammers.

the reason I wanted to be a moderator on my own thread was after I read that it turns out that I can moderate my own posts in a thread on the board. then I remember seeing a thread where the reply post was completely unrelated to the topic being discussed. and there the avenger even promotes a website. but now the reply may be gone because the moderator has deleted it. although the existence of the reply post is a bit long.
You can quicken the deletion of such off-topic replies by reporting them to the moderator as soon as possible. The report button is usually at the bottom right of each post.

although I'm not sure when to use this feature. but maybe one day when I make a serious discussion topic this is what I really need.

In addition what @OmegaStarScream have been mentioned above.

You can moderate self-moderated thread to delete other user post, but you shouldn't abuse it by using that's power if someone disagree with your thought. Constructive criticism post is considered as high quality post too and this forum has free speech. I don't know what's your purpose to create self-moderated thread, if you can't moderated a thread you can still report to moderator and let them decide.

AFAIK certain boards doesn't let you to create self-moderated thread, so don't surprised if you didn't find it.

at least I don't want spam to appear in my post later.

When you're writing your topic (before posting it) scroll down and look for additional options and then tick the "self-moderated" checkbox.

I had an adventure in this forum and when I was on the reputation board I read a thread and someone responded to the thread suggesting that the OP should moderate the post by the OP himself.

Then I thought whether it could create a topic which myself as the moderator in my writing?

if so, where can i find the method?
please show and i will be very grateful.
