I would've thought the polite thing to do was donate 0.5BTC as an actual donation for returning your 10BTC! I know that's what I would do if I had been so lucky!

Donation sent! Thanks again Gavin!

This!
Agreed. Hell, I consider myself to be a good person, but if random coins showed up with no explanation, I'm not sure that I would send them back. You should send some type of reward for being so honest.

I can prove the address is mine by sending more BTC from that address, but still, obviously this requires the goodwill (and awareness) of the owner of the address: 15ArtCgi3wmpQAAfYx4riaFmo4prJA4VsK

You can prove you own an address by using the nice option of the Bitcoin client. "Receive money"->Sign a message. You can then write a message and sign it with that address. Then you post the whole message and the signature and everyone can check you own the address by checking the signature with the public address.

Ouch, hope this teaches you a lesson.
When sending large amounts of money, pay attention to what your doing.

By all means, it be very nice of the owner of that address to refund you. But I got to admit that address is well use to donations.
Even 10Btc might go unnoticed.

No, the payment is irreversible.

Showing the information you have shown does not prove you own the address as you could have just read that from the blockchain after a large payment went to the faucet.   Now if a site owner decides to send back the money to you they can send it back to the original address that it came from and at least the money goes back to the person who sent it.

Ugh, I made my first careless Bitcoin transaction error!

I accidentally sent 10 BTC to Faucet's bitcoin address!!! I realize these are irreversible, but does anyone know the owner personally or how I could contact him and really really nicely ask for those bitcoins back?

The address I sent to by accident was: 15ArtCgi3wmpQAAfYx4riaFmo4prJA4VsK
From this address: 1QEgRqvF3sVqzpqb95B7TgZg8Km8grTeRk

And the transaction hash is: fb8c99ec703416e0d63cda45c63440901e768d6d9cefb8b7cb1c910259fd2bac

It has only 1 confirmation so far... not sure if that makes any difference!

P.S. This is the "default" destination address in the Brainwallet.org !!!
