AFAIK you should be able to do it without problems. I haven't been mining for some time now but when I did the pool I used had no problems with multiple connections. I was setting up the software to launch with my login on each rig and they all were mining for the same account on the same pool.
If you have access to cheap power, free hardware and a lot of space just make one or 2 such rigs and check how they'll perform, especially now in Winter when there should be no problems with cooling.

Also note that with that Asus MOBO you can also use those smaller slots (PCI x1) and put some additional GPUs in there with the help of more risers. From the looks of it you can fit 6 cards in there.

OOOH can I use the old PCI ports too!!! NICE!!!!

Well I tried on some pools and I got an error : user already logged in when i used the exact same wallet :S Which pools did you use? maybe I could try those?=)

Hi guys!

I need some advice setting up a mining computer. I have read around that you can use PCI express x1 without it affecting hashrate since the processing is done ON the card.

SO! I have an ASUS m4a890GTD with 2 PCI ex x16, 1 PCI ex x4 and 1 pci ex x1.   CAN i theoretically use 4 cards in this?  I have easy access to AMD radeon HD 5870 5850 5970 etc.

Yes you can without problems, as you have 2 PCI-e and 2 full PCI slots. You'll just need 2 risers for those pci slots that are clumped together.

q1: CAN all these cards be mixed or is that stupid? Should i stick to only say 3x 5870? instead of 2x 5870 and 1x 5950 ?

You can use various cards if you have to, although people tend to pick the ones that have the best hash/price ratio and just stick with 4 times the same type.

q2: Do the cards need crossfire cables?

No, you don't need them synchronized for mining like you would for gaming. Here each card does its own thing.

q3: How much hashrate can 3-4 of these cards produce? ELECTRICITY is not a factor for me! =)

Check articles online. Many compare different GPUs

Yes you can without problems, as you have 2 PCI x16 and 2 x8 PCI slots. You'll just need 2 risers for those pci slots that are clumped together.

I have an additional question.

I have access to many weak + moderate computres.

Can I set them up to CO-OP mine on one pool? As per noe I have to generate unique wallet addresses for each miner in order to not get rejected by the pool saying user already logged in.

But that way the weaker computers will never be able to cash out due to the relatively high cash out rate of the pools 0.5 XMR for example.

YES I know of Minergate, BUT people are saying its a scam? That they reward very low?

Also Minergate crashes freakkin all the time on multiple computers....  We need some decent software here that can auto detect and mine on CPU and GPU! Wink

also! XMrig tends to crash sometimes. HOW can I fix that? Ive set the thread use to only one too!
